September 30, 201312 yr Has Bronson pitched his last regular-season game with the Reds? FA after the season. Speculation is he will be in the $12M per area. I can't see the Reds spending that money on him with Cingrani in the wins at $500k. I see them using that money to shore up the offense. I hate to see him go though. He has been a GREAT Reds pitcher and has been a great example to all Reds pitchers. Plus he seems like a good cat.
September 30, 201312 yr Can't pay aging vets for what they've done in the past, gotta pay for what they're going to do in the future.
September 30, 201312 yr He's had a nice career as a Red. You let him walk and invite him back in a few years to induct him into the Reds' HOF.
September 30, 201312 yr I don't think Arroyo will get $12M. The Reds should adopt a wait and see attitude. Let the market set his price and then make a decision on whether to pay him. Arroyo is a huge risk for any team and it will be interesting to see where his price ends up. What is 200 innings worth?
September 30, 201312 yr 200 innings of getting shelled isnt worth crap .. He has been a very good Red , He earned his money and was really dependable . But no way you pay him above 6-7 M as a Red .

September 30, 201312 yr The Yanks are going to need to fill some innings and Bronson likes the nightlife.
September 30, 201312 yr He might not get 12 but I think he will get double digits for sure. You might be right. Arroyo led the Reds in quality starts with 22, tied for 8th best in the NL. But at 36 and clearly losing major league level velocity on his fastball, who will take the risk?
September 30, 201312 yr He might not get 12 but I think he will get double digits for sure. 200 innings, 12-14 wins and an ERA under 4. That gets you at least 10 mil from someone...
September 30, 201312 yr 200 innings, 12-14 wins and an ERA under 4. That gets you at least 10 mil from someone... ... but how does a 88 MPH fastball that is decreasing annually and age 36 impact that?
September 30, 201312 yr ... but how does a 88 MPH fastball that is decreasing annually and age 36 impact that? He's still hitting at 90 and 91 enough. You are over thinking this. He will get at worst 10 mil for the next 2 years to do what he has always done. And he will do it regardless of the team that decides to pay the deal...
September 30, 201312 yr Bronson has hit 90, but not this month. That is another sign to me that age is catching up with him.
September 30, 201312 yr Soft crap won't win in the post season. For me at least, how they handle Arroyo will go a long way in determining the mindset of management. Personally, he can't be a foundation of your staff from here on out at his age. You have to rely on Cingrani being a stalwart in the rotation.
