Which your all's point is right on. I mean this area has ton of fans, but its a different type of fan apparently. Which makes it not a good sports town.

If you want the fans to come out do not put every home game on TV. This isn't 1970 anymore. Why would fans from Dayton, Lexington, Indy drive to Cincy for a game that they can comfortably watch from home in HD? Why would fans that live 5 miles away pay $15 to park and $25 for a mid-price ticket?

 

I am surprised the Reds drew as many as they have this year. I think their marketing department does a great job getting people in the park.

Exactly! This is why Cincinnati is not a very good sports town. All our fans do is make excuses when they get called out for being poor fans. They hate the Bengals and the Reds for years when they are in the cellar of the NL Central and now that we have some really good teams coming through they still dont go out and support them. Ya, we broke an attendance record this year, so what! The team needs you now! And school, work, etc doesnt stop fans from Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and other towns from coming out, so why does it here? And i think Ludwick said it perfectly, "its a natural red bull". Anybody who has ever played a sport in their life knows what it feels like to play in front of 10 fans and what its like to play in front of a packed house. It makes a difference! Exactly. He wasn't complaining about a small crowd or griping about anything actually. He was asking for the people that are there to ramp up the energy in the park. If you are there and a Reds fan you should take pride in making your presence felt...

Why is it okay for you to take shots at the team and who is not doing what, but it is not okay for the team to ask the fans to come out to the game? And why do you keep going back to "what did they have to be energized about?". Maybe he was referring to the fact that there are 6 teams with better attendance records than the Reds, and those 6 teams are in last or second to last place right now and were eliminated from the playoffs a month ago. Reds averaged 20k fans against the Cardinal a couple weeks ago. By your theory the fans had something to be energized about then, but still didnt come out.
