Dan Hoard and Dave Lapham's Call on the Green Bay Fumble

Featured Replies

Do you love it or hate it?

National media has had a lot of fun with it. What say you?

Awful. But then again, I can't stand listening to Lapham, so I'm probably biased.

I love it, Lap is a huge homer but I don't really mind that much.

That's what home broadcasts are supposed to be. Allow the national crew to call a game w/out bias.

I had no problem with the call of the fumble.

Love Lapham.

The call is exactly what I hope to hear when listening to the home broadcast.

On a home team radio broadcast, heck yeah! That was a great call. Lapham went a little overboard wacky but that was an incredible play. Dan Hoard is one of the best broadcasters I have ever heard. He is Vin Scully without diahrea of the mouth.

I like Lap. I like the excitement. Come on, he's an ex player and you know where his heart is. He's the Bengal's Joe Nuxall!

Actually there are 2 issues here - Greg Hoard's call and Dave Lapham's goofiness.

- I really like Hoard. He is a professional and does a pretty job calling the action; however, his call on this play was miserable he neglects to even mention the ball is picked up by Reggie Nelson and subsequently fumbled. You would have a hard time knowing what happened from Hoard's call. I would bet that if you got Hoard alone and asked him about the play, he would be candidly admit he blew it.

- Lapham is a clown. I don't care if the home broadcasters are homers and I certainly don't care if they have fun, but I don't need that goofiness that actually interferes with the actual call, which is the job they are attempting to do. If you got Lapham alone, I bet he would think talking over Hoard and screaming was acceptable.

This call should embarass them both.

Tell us what you really think OB!

Lap is the biggest schil in sports. Bengals could go out and sign Aaron Hernandez tomorrow and he'd be singing their praises for thinking outside the box.

Geez. Are you a member of the blue-hairs that sit in the lower bowl at Rupp Arena?

Just kidding Oldbird.

I know going in Lap is a homer who tends to go over the top. He really doesn't bother me, but to each his own.

Ouch - I am getting there. :D

Just had to look it up. I don't see a problem. They are local broadcasters for the Bengals. Lapham was excited and Hoard called the play. No story here.
