Anyone On Here Ever Met An Actual, Active Ku Klux Klan Member Before?

Must be nice to live that sheltered life in NoKy. Some deeper investigation of this state would be very eye-opening for you. It's pretty redneck -- still quite a few sundown towns out there.
That doesn't make BGP redneck, however. I haven't seen any evidence to back KyTmcNcc's claim. You?

It really kind of depends. Being openly racist is frowned upon, for the most part, and those people have gone underground. Just because they aren't wearing hoods and sheets in public doesn't mean their thinking changed. They just are better about keeping it on the DL.

You guys really think that there are members of the KKK on this board?

There is only 5-6,000 estimated in the world by the SPLC.....and you think 1-2 are on this board?

Again?

I didn't say you guaranteed it, but insinuating isn't all that far off anyway. You obviously weren't joking.

I didn't think KKK members really cared about people knowing they're racist. Heck, I thought they were proud of it.

Aren't the hoods meant to hide their identities? At any rate, there are people who have some of these views and aren't Klan members, whether they accept their views aren't socially acceptable to express publicly or not. I think the idea of the Klan - which is defunct and powerless - became something of a scapegoat for these casual prejudices, which are far more influential.

Skin heads are probably worse than KKK members.

Since I'm proudly not a member, I can't say. Sure, I guess so...or maybe not entirely. Perhaps they didn't want people to know they were a Klan member, but let's be honest, most people like that don't necessarily hide that they're racist. The subject CWB met seemed to not really care that someone he didn't know well knew about his membership or feelings on race.

Yeah, I agree with the rest. However, I seriously doubt we have any KKK members here, or skinheads for that matter, which I felt was a ridiculous statement.

Prejudices aren't only wrapped in a "white" package, as I'm sure you know.

Again?

Just quoting Ronald Reagan .You know "There you go again "

I think you're being very naive about it. Again, racism breathes quite clearly underground these days. It's not like it used to be where in some places you had to be an open, card-carrying Klan member to get elected.

Of course, that naive-ness (not sure the correct word here) goes a long way toward blinding folks as to the reality of living in a redneck world. White people are pretty good about ignoring/letting slide the daily nastiness they see and hear.

I'm really surprised as I thought there were more than that.

So, CWB...how did you find out he was a KKK member? He have tattoos or a tee shirt on or something? What gave it away, how did the conversation go and could he tell you were aggravated? Would he want to fight me if he saw me of would he just quit on the spot?

I had a meeting on my jobsite with a black man who owns a company doing work for me onsite. We had a rather unremarkable meeting, but after he left the job trailer, I had a foreman from another subcontractor (already working onsite) come up to me and express his feelings about working on a jobsite with a company owned by a black man. After he tossed out the n-word a couple of times in a matter of seconds, I told him I was not going to allow language like that on my jobsite. He then proceeded to continue on with an EXTRAORDINARILY offensive rant that included mentions of "good 'ol fashion lynchings", and how the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville was an American abomination. At that point I had gotten VERY angry and started yelling back at him, and somewhere in the exchange, he rolled up on of his shirt sleeves to show me the Aryan Nation seal tattooed on his arm. At that point he explained that he was a "proud, God-fearing member of the clan".

I started to 'tell' him what I thought of him, and at that point I realized I had my fist clenched at my side, and decided I needed to diffuse the situation before I did something to get myself in trouble. I opted to take lunch early in order to cool off.

I have since had a discussion with the owner of the man's company, and I've been guaranteed that he will not be coming back out to my job any longer.

No, I'm really not because, sadly, I hear a lot of racist garbage all too frequently. Are people less out front about it at the work place? Sure, if they want to keep their job. But I have to tell you, I hear a lot out there in public from both sides.

Actually I have met one , A man named Parkie Scott was handing out recruiting pamphlets at an Ohio shopping center . Scott if you remember owns ,owned a farm adjacent to I-75 ,71 . The barn has a Confederate flag painted on the roof and he held regular cross burnings on his property next to the Interstate I tore the paper up and threw it in a garbage can . He was a :poop:
