August 30, 201313 yr While touring NAIA facilities and non scholarship IIA in the state over the past two years, I don't see why you would chose non scholarship IIA over NAIA schools due to scholarship offers and facilities that are superior at the NAIA schools. I guess you would have to like the the idea of going to that particular school. Which other FCS school(s) in Kentucky are non-scholarship?

Maybe bigger grandstand but that would be it.
August 30, 201313 yr Morehead kept turning the ball over and missed way to many opportunities. Pikeville played with more emotion. Lets hope next week at Youngstown State they play better. Go Eagles
August 30, 201313 yr As a Morehead Alum, I am very embarrassed by this. Makes two of us. And I have nothing against Pikeville, but Jeez Louise.
August 30, 201313 yr While it is an upset, it's not the one-for-the-ages stunner that many are making it out to be. UPIKE is a very talented NAIA program with scholarships. MSU has a freshman QB and no scholarships. Still a very impressive win for the Bears. Was thinking the same thing. Not a huge difference between good NAIA and non-scholarship I-AA. Let's not sugarcoat it. This was a terrible loss for Morehead State. UPike is coming off of a 3-8 season and is picked to finish 6th IN THEIR DIVISION in the Mid South Conference by the coaches. University of the Cumberlands, who is picked to finish 2nd in that division, and is ranked 25th overall in NAIA was crushed 63-7 by a Tennessee Tech team that is coming off of a 3-8 season. There's no excuse for Morehead to lose to UPike.

August 30, 201313 yr Morehead should have never fired Matt Ballard and allowed the coup to come from within......and FCS non-scholarship is not much better than top level high school teams. I'm sorry to say that and everyone will pile on saying but 18-22 year old men will beat up 15-19 year old kids......nope, because most those kids couldn't play FCS scholarship or D1, or they would.
