August 29, 201313 yr From stories I've heard from people who've had first hand experiences with him, he's very down to earth and cool. :idunno:
August 29, 201313 yr Like I said he may be a great man, and this story would go in line with that. But from what I've heard he's very egotistical and comes off as a jerk when the cameras are off. He knows exactly who he is, and doesn't mind letting the people around him know that as well. All good coaches have ego's. Comes with the territory.
August 30, 201313 yr All good coaches have ego's. Comes with the territory. Find me one without a large ego and I submit they will be at home watching games.
August 30, 201313 yr Find me one without a large ego and I submit they will be at home watching games. Did John Wooden? He was before my time so I don't know.
August 30, 201313 yr Find me one without a large ego and I submit they will be at home watching games. This!
August 30, 201313 yr Did John Wooden? He was before my time so I don't know. From the stories heard about how his program was run and the way the NCAA would handle it now, I don't think there's any doubt that he thought he was bigger than the NCAA. Thus, a large ego.
August 30, 201313 yr Same was true with Eddie Sutton. Eddie won some, but as the NCAA investigated, he led the team to implosion and a losing record. Of all his sins, that was the unforgivable one. Your mention of Eddie Sutton reminds me of something Matt Jones said on KSR a week or so ago. He said Kentucky basketball has a pattern it unintentionally goes by in regards to its basketball coaches. That pattern is: Great, Good, Drunk. Rupp (Great) Hall (Good) Sutton (Drunk) Pitino (Great) Tubby (Good) Billy Clyde (Drunk) Calipari (Great) :lol2:
