Guru, thanks for a thread that is thought provoking and not totally based on team prejudices and suppositions. One indicator of Bowling Green's strength will be their showing against X next weekend. I have seen every X game for the past 22 years and this X team passes the "eye test" as well as any X team since the early '90's. Their physical strength and size matches up with the really good Ohio teams we have faced in past several years. If the Purples can put it to X this year they are deserving of some National Recognition. Where they are ranked, or should be ranked, is anyone's guess. I too watched a lot of high school football on ESPN last weekend and saw several teams that would be difficult for most KY teams to beat.

And I will add, if X beats the purples then BG isn't as good as I thought they were this year. either way, who is to say who should be ranked and who shouldn't right now, today, not next week.

Trinity won the state title in 2010 and returned a national championship team in 2011. Trinity beat Bowling Green by 3 points in 2010. Bowling Green returned 18 starters in 2011 and steamrolled everyone they played and set a state record for margin of victory in the championship game. Why would it be so unbelievable to think that Bowling Green might have been one of the top 100 teams in the country in 2011. Bowling Green graduated those 18 starters and a strong Junior class won the championship in 2012. They returned 16 starters from that team this year and could run the table again. It is not out of the realm to think that they may be in the top 100 again this year. You say, why is Bowling Green ranked? I say, why not!

T beat bg by 2 in 2010 for the record. Secondly Bg didn't steam roll every opponent on their schedule, they beat one of the worse X teams in recent history by 8 points; they were losing at halftime might I add. That's why it's hard to believe they were a top 100 team in 2011.

I wouldn't put much stock in the 2010 result, Trinity was playing their 3rd string QB due to an illness and an injury.

I drove down and watched Bowling Green play Lex Cath this past Saturday. I watched X against Ballard on Friday. Based upon those two performances only, both teams are far from being a top 25 national team. BTW, on September 13th I will be in Seattle, Washington watching a team that is top 25 most years--Bellevue, Washington.

Didn't X break some BG streak last year? Something along the Lines of not giving up over 28 points or something?

First and only time BG has allowed 28+ since 2009. It was the 9th time ever BG won when giving up 28+.

It may not have been your intention, but it is what it is. I understand that you want to start some good conversations, but if you can't see how this thread has turned into something other than your original post, then I have to wonder.
