Here is what I don't understand. For the last month there has been talk about a couple KY teams being ranked nationally and how KY football isn't as good as other states.

 

I guess that opinion will never go away as long as we have kentuckians belittling KY teams that do make it to national rankings. Almost wonder why some of these people on here just don't go across the river into Ohio on Friday nights to watch football instead.

 

BG is 31-0 and is very good this year. Why can't some accept that?

I guess a lot of people on here have been less than honest about their support for a fellow Kentucky team getting attention and when the owner of the message board starts a thread like this one, their true feelings come out. I was very gullible to think others around the state were glad another state team was making our state look a little better.

I think the only nagging bits of doubt for most people who might be questioning it has more to do with BG not playing against any out of state teams. I think with one or two known out of state powers that would help. TN isn't that far away. Either way if they beat X convincingly it will be a moot point as they would have proven themselves against a strong opponent.

I'm almost positive everyone is happy BG is garnering some form of national attention. I believe most are just questioning the credibility of the rankings more so than BG.

I am very happy BG is getting the national attention they are. It is great to see KY programs get noticed at a regional or national level.

I'm glad to see Bowling green getting some love nationally. I haven't had a chance to see BG this year but I saw them against Owensboro last year and Trinity a few years back(the 14-12 game). Really impressed with where they've taken their program. I went to Cincinnati Princeton back when Coach Pat Mancuso had the Vikings rolling so I've been around some good football teams. I think Bowling Green is definitely taking the steps to legitimately be in the national conversation. Much like Trinity, Lville St. X,& Highlands did BG is going to have to cross boarders to face more nationally recognized programs to get respect. I would love to see the Purples against Murfreesboro Riverdale,Middletown(OH),East St. Louis,Maryville,Alcoa,etc etc. When I look at BG historically they seem to show very well against top flight teams. They have a victory against Highlands,multiple wins against Lville St X,Bob Redmans Male teams,and many many others. Hopefully they continue to improve their program and more public schools around the state follow their blue print!

Don't know what the "National Rankings People" see in Bowling Green, but what I see is a WKY football squad that's been building tradition for awhile and is capable of beating ANY given team in the state if they play their A game and the opponent isn't in sync.

Didn't X break some BG streak last year? Something along the Lines of not giving up over 28 points or something?

 

Point differential can be inflated by style of play, in-game strategy & adjustments, etc. You can give up 28 points and still beat a good team-- you just have to score more than they do.

I'd say a 21 point beat down would convince most anyone that X is the better team. Question is: can they beat Bowling Green that badly though? It is at St. X, which will obviously be a factor, but this is going to be "the game" I want to see this year (i.e., not Trinity vs. St. X in Papa John's).

 

Both teams are probably playing for the "Best Team in the State" title.

To answer the original question. I'll put it in very simple terms.

 

What do the National Rankings people see in BG?

 

They see a team that is in the 2nd largest class in the state undefeated over the past 2+ years and going for their 3rd straight State Championship.

 

That is what the national ranking people see.

Do I think it's possible? Why sure, anything is possible on any given Friday night. Is that what I think will happen? No, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

First and only time BG has allowed 28+ since 2009. It was the 9th time ever BG won when giving up 28+.

This X fan has been impressed with BG dating back to their games against X in the Rafferty's Bowl. The past couple of years players such as Scooter Hollis and Nacarius Fant have been as good as any opponents' players X has faced. The X staff and fans have been extremely impressed with the caliber of teams fielded by BG. When you get down to it, isn't the respect from a quality opponent as important as any polling system? What takes place on the field outweighs any poll. Hats off to the winning streak BG has compiled and the entire state looks forward to next Friday's clash with X.
