Why is Warren Central punished for losing and LexCath isn't?

Why is Warren Central punished for losing and LexCath isn't?

Warren Central lost to a team that was initially considered inferior to them and it is reasonably expected that the teams ahead of them this week would have fared better. LexCath lost to a clearly superior team and the expectation is that every team below them would have fared as badly or worse. That's my take on it.

Yeah, but LexCath got mollywhopped. What would LexCath be ranked if they were 5A? The 4A Class has typically been a stronger class than 5A from top to bottom has it not? At least when looking at the top 10. It's normal for top 4A teams to defeat 5A teams. It's not normal for a top 4A team to get battered and bruised like LexCath did when facing BG last week. Nobody beats LexCath like that. Warren Central lost to a top 10 4A team and while it was a 2 touchdown deficit it's still a more respectable loss than what LexCath received.

To answer where I'd rank LexCath in 5A, probably 3rd. That's how much better Bowling Green is than everyone in that class not named John Hardin. If you took the 4A teams 3-5, I'd put them all 3rd in 5A.

At the end of the day I ask you these two questions:

1) Do you think Boyle County would have shown better against Bowling Green?

2) Do you think if Boyle County played Lexington Catholic this week they would win? Did you feel the same way last week?

I can't answer #2 as well, but I'll tell you this much on question #1, in 4A unless your team name is Highlands or to a much lesser extent CovCath, I'd expect the same or worse from playing Bowling Green.

I'd also say BTW that the dropping of Warren Central was basically as much an acknowledgement of a mistake as it was the loss itself. Expectations did not match the product. Even the Madisonville beat writers were picking Warren Central by 2 TDs.

I think because this isn't the AP Poll and all losses are not equal.

Bowling Green is the real deal this year. They will beat everyone on their schedule as bad or worse than what they did to Lexcath...outside of St. X and I still think they beat them too.

I agree. I wish they played HHS this year. What a game that would be and as I stated months ago I feel they may be the best team in the state. BG is loaded and very talented. It would surprise me if they don't finish undefeated again.

PP92 ... I will agree with the posters above. I think Lex Cath lost nothing in the poll because of the high level of respect everyone has for BG. Everyone expected a BG win. BG is getting Trinity type respect this season. Even though Highlands got handled by Trinity in their scrimmage, everyone still considers Highlands #1 in 4A. Same type of situation for Lex Cath in losing to BG.

With the exception of Highlands last year, 4a teams would have had trouble with the top 10 5a schools.

It was proven on the field.
