By far the hardest player to replace is goin to Matt.....he is a big play waiting to happen with his speed

You've got that right :creepy:

This was the first time he ever played defense in 8 years of playing football. I think he did ok.

Yes he did, and not just in the Pburg game. :ylsuper:

Disagree...We should have went last year! Gave that game away, played like...well, Awful!!!

The better team won last year, IMO. Russell could have easily been up 35-0 at halftime of the semi-final game.

Now, Belfry had a chance to get back in it, but I still think Russell had the best team in AA in 2005. Experience was the thing lacking last year, this year it will be big-play capability. You can make up for lack of speed with precision & execution, but there is no cure for lack of experience.

Luckily, all of those Pirates returning will have plenty of that for 2006.

I agree no one wanted to step up and be the leader on last years team and you have to have at least 2 or 3 of them guys on your team....Last years team was young and hadnt had a lot of playing time in the years before...I think we will be ok this year though.....

I look for Chapman, May, and Steele to be the guys to step up this year

I agree that the better team "that night" won. And Love my Belfry!!! Dont miss a game. But Belfry did not play ball like that every game last year. They did not play Belfry ball that night and there were a few other games that they could have done better. Wasn't taking away from Russell they were the better team that night and they had a great season! Just saying...we didnt play that bad every night either...sometimes I think its like this years basketball team, when their on their on, when their not....I dont know...Just not consistant

IS the Pike County Bowl going to be played at Belfry and Pikeville again this year? I wish the Panthers and Pirates still played on the same night, whether they play at Belfry or Pikeville. I don't know if I can take another Shelby Valley-East Ridge matchup on the same night Pikeville plays.

I think Belfry plays Newport Catholic at the Pike County Bowl this year. It is being played at Belfry.
:p HA HA

Actually...I have heard a "rumor" that we have one coming from YOUR side of town :sssh: ???? He was at our game tonight and was pointed out to me but I dont have a name.

Big tight end that started last yr. is whom I,m hearing.about the size of A. chapman.(he,s got some big shoes to fill.)

Belfry does play NewCath and Pikeville plays Henry Clay, both games should be played on the same night IMO whether it is played at Pikeville or Belfry.

Ahhh... I'd be surprised if that is the one, Buck! :sssh: His ties are deeply-rooted in P-burg. :thumb: And I'm sure his family(not to mention his own feelings) will want him to return home as a Blackcat at some point in his life. But I've been wrong before.... once!

8 yrs. is a long time for him not to have seen any action on the defensive side of the ball, burnt! That would have meant grade school, middle school, and then high school. Maybe late in primary, at times, a single position ends up being chosen, but through all the different coaches he's played under I'm sure he would have played defense at some point, even if early on! :thumb:

I agree, the 2 marquee games should be on saturday. And ive said for years that the 2 best teams in Pike co. should be playing in this game and thats it (If its not Pikeville or Belfry then so be it.) The other games are just a waste of time.

Belfry appeared to have an adundance of END type bodies last season that return, but the addition of another certainly doesn't hurt.

During the SV game last year I seen that the Toten kid has grown. I coached him in basketball at the Y. And he was a good athlete at age 12. If he has retained anything that he had at that young age, he should be something positive for BHS. How is he turning out?
