Belfry 2006

Featured Replies

8 yrs. is a long time for him not to have seen any action on the defensive side of the ball, burnt! That would have meant grade school, middle school, and then high school. Maybe late in primary, at times, a single position ends up being chosen, but through all the different coaches he's played under I'm sure he would have played defense at some point, even if early on! :thumb:

I don't know about early on, but I do know that he did a great job last year!:thumb:

I can't wait until football season starts again. Belfry is opening with 3 hard games. I hated to lose the Ironton game, but I think that Coach Haywood did an excellent job filling the gap left by the loss of Ironton with Ashland.

I'm glad he was successful at his position last year, Pal, and hope he was satisfied with the decision to make the move. It would have been terrible had he moved and not derived any benefit from it. I wish him all the best except, of course, when we meet on the gridiron in the fall. :thumb:

And I'm sure you'll be happy having added Ashland to your schedule, which should result in plenty of competitive action that will benefit your Pirates.

I'm glad we (Ashland) are hooking up with you guys again. Hate that we don't have "Arnton" this year due to a quirk in the schedule. We'll have them back next year I believe, hope we can have both.:thumb:

We've always had great battles, especially when we first dropped back into AAA where you guys had been to Louisville so many years in a row.

Cheers, Woody Jr

 Yeah, if you're talking to someone who says they're from Ironton, you know they are if they pronounce it "Arnton"! If not, it's an imposter.... :thumb:

I'll add a little to the topic. I see only one glaring weakness next season for Belfry. Do they have anyone with gamebreaking speed on the roster? I think overall, they have a good amount of kids with "good" speed (for 2a football) but Im not sure they have a kid like Jones or Maynard..

I'm glad for that too o-line. I also look forward to our yearly meeting and I hope the results are the same as they have been the past 3 years!:sssh: :thumb: ;)

Yeah, even with a down year, it's always, I think, the game we look forward to every year. :thumb: The results, unlike you however, are something I'm hoping to see change from the past 3 years! :D;) :sssh:
