August 22, 201313 yr Is anyone else bothered by the term "crooked numbers"? I have no idea why I am and I there is no reason for it annoying me, but it just runs up and down me when I hear it. My only thought for why it bothers me is that it's an attempt to be either clever or cute and it fails as both. What say you?

August 26, 201313 yr ...........I hear it all of the time on broadcasts from teams all over MLB and it doesn't bother me in the least. I think one of the great qualities of Baseball is it has its own vernacular. Uncle Charlie, The Deuce, Can of Corn, Crooked Numbers, Hot Corner, On the Black, Hollow of the Knee, etc. My son (8) and I were watching MLB Network the other day and the announcer said a "duck-snort" to RF. Part of my job as Dad is to explain that as best as I can....which I enjoyed.
