It would be a little easier to root for Highlands in this game it the teams were comparable, watching the video from state championship that team only looks to have 30-40 players at the most. HHS is appears to be a heavy favorite in this game and should win easily...even though it is hard to root for Goliath...GO KENTUCKY!

To get an understanding of what University Christian is you have to know what they aspire to become.

Think of the basketball powers like Huntington Prep where kids come in for their senior year for competition and exposure. FL rules allow kids to transfer in this manner and retain eligibility immediately. So this year UC offers kids out of state and in state top of the line competition and national television exposure. It should come as no surprise that UC now has more than a dozen new seniors on the roster that were in other programs last year. So the question is not so much what they have back, but who came in.

I am with VOR on this one. I will be rooting for Highlands as usual, but always pull for teams from KY & teams from NKY down state in the playoffs.

 

I will add that sometimes I root against NCC just to get under my older brothers skin. :thumb:

I don't understand this reasoning. I never have been one who feels as if you should root for a team solely because they are within the state in which you reside. I have family ties to Colerain, Cincinnati St. X and LaSalle. There were many times I rooted for these teams against Kentucky teams. Doesn't mean I am not a fan of KY high school football.

 

Will I be rooting for Highlands to beat University Christian? YES!

 

Is the reason because they are a KY school? NO!

I should add I will root for teams if I am boys with their coach. I will root for Birds Baseball because of my boy Jeremy B.

I guess Florida is SEC type football and KY is Big 10 type. Well then smash away.

Not necessarily true.

I am rooting for Highlands but I am not going full on pom-pom mode. The state's most visible and powerful teams are on the other side of the state so the affinity may not be as strong in far West Kentucky.

It's a term that is used to describe a "run heavy" offense that often attacks the defensive front of the opponent (smashing them in the mouth) as opposed to a passing attack or an offense that attacks D gap.

 

The term has been discussed in great detail on BGP over the years mainly due to the fact that it is not a term commonly used in NKY. Many people took it to mean, "we are meaner they you", or "we are more physical they you", but that is not what is meant by the term.
