Bridgewater autographs

Featured Replies

All of this makes me wonder if there is some kind of unwritten code amongst all the schools which allow these guys to profit off their autographs. I wonder if they all do it for some kind of delayed kickback they get once they are out of school? They are all doing it for money unless it is some kind of hack that collects or buys autographs off people then resales them.

Very good point.

Does anyone truly believe these athletes are just good guys that have no problem with a grown man bringing them 50+ items to sign, knowing they're going to put them up for auction?

We're all overthinking this....It's obvious to me that Saban paid a couple big-time brokers a handsome fee to get these guys to sign things for cash and catch it on tape. Gotta keep that trophy in Tuscaloosa no matter what. :D

Do not forget ....up in a hotel room, where nobody is around. They know exactly what they are doing.

Ohio St., S. Carolina: Items signed by Miller, Clowney OK on EBay - CBSSports.com

So in and of itself, even if one broker selling nearly 50 items signed by three players looks suspicious -- that's a lot of effort on the part of the players to help out the brokers for nothing in return, even if it appears Manziel was willing to make exactly that kind of effort -- there won't be anything to see here, NCAA-wise, unless something more substantial surfaces.

The problem is that as more and more of these items become public knowledge, the more likely it becomes that the NCAA finds either a paper trail or someone willing to talk -- and to say that he's paid a superstar to sign for him.

There is autographed merchandise on ebay for a ton of current players in football and basketball

Which means nothing if they can't prove they were paid.

True, but with everyone always saying where there is smoke there is fire...I don't see this going away anytime soon.

Players do sign autographs, I have an autographed jersey and helmet from Braxton. It's the guys who sign hundreds of things for one person like Manziel who you question. Braxton was only recognized in this cause he signed a ton of stuff at Big 10 media day in Chicago last week. This OSU like and Michigan lines were the longest go figure..

The NCAA is not a court of law having to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. I have quit trying to figure out how they will rule on a situation. To me it seems helpful so many players appeared to have participated, if that makes sense.

The universities host signing parties. You buy a ticket and can take items to get signed. Student athlete gets nothing.

I know a guy who will buy your ticket and dinner, but he keeps everything you get signed.

Yep. Safety in numbers.

The broker only has a handful of Bridgewater items as opposed to a metric ton of Manziel ones. This is sich a non-issue that it makes me suspicious that Manziel's law firm is pushing this story.

Honestly, if you met Bridgewater you wouldn't be concerned about this. He can come off so aspy that my wife thinks it would make him too uncomfortable to break any rules.

Are you serious? Wasn't he connected to something with Clint Hurtt?

personally I wish they'd take the handcuffs off and let these kids make a little money.

No only connection was Clint was involved in his recruitment. The NCAA has said Teddy is clean.
