I guess I have been use to a certain standard over the years in the X defense and that last 3 years they have not been X defense of old.

 

It will be interesting to see the X offense give people fits in multiple ways.

 

PepRock, you understand this, at the end of the day X has to be awesome against T's offense in order to play in December.

 

I get that, but the last three years against T have really put the X d in an unfair light. The offense by and large has been exponentially worse against the Rocks. I do see where you are coming from through, prior to 2010 X had never given up more than 28 in regulation against the Rocks. That would appear to skew the numbers somewhat, but it was against an offense that few defenses in KY history could have slowed down. Don't be so hard on them.

I don't want to overlook their first 2 games, but when the Purples travel up to take on the Tigers will be a true test of where this team really is. I to will be interested to see the defense more than the offense which may sound a bit odd. But in my opinion it has been the defense that has been down the last few years. It will be interesting to see if they can build on their performance against T when they held them to 15 points.

I don't believe the d has to be awesome either, they just need to be better. If the offense is even half of what we are expecting just a little help from the defense should suffice.

Provided that they can break the ribs of BGs best player then they should be fine. Of course I suspect they will be more than fine without that. All joking aside, I honestly wouldn't put it all on the D over the last few years, they have been awesome against anyone not named Trinity.

 

My suggestion would be that if they manage to break the ribs of the other teams best player, the players and fans not cheer the injury. It tends to strengthen the resolve of the other team and reflects poorly on the team in green and yellow.

How many wins does everyone see?

 

13 wins. I see two losses against the Ohio teams. I hope that I am wrong about the season finale on senior night against Cincinnati St. Xavier, but they are always so good. 13-2 with a trophy coming home to poplar level road!

The reason the defense has always looked as the weaker side is because the offense could not sustain a drive long enough for the defense to get any rest, thus leading to break downs in coverage due to fatigue. This problem then continued down the line to be untrust between the two-sides and a little bitterness coming from the defense towards the offense because of lack of points being scored. You can only hold teams and give the ball back to the offense so many times. The offense could never capitalize. If they would have been able to and how they will be this year, then you would not consider the defense weaker.

COACHING. That is what I want to see improvement on for this years team. Preferably the offensive side of the ball. If games get close and the play calling picks up, then I will know that something great can happen with this team. It was always in close games that the old staff seemed to play not to lose instead of going for the jugular. Can't wait to see how Nagle does in front of 30,000 people in October and can't wait to see all of the members of the team celebrate the school's 15th football state championship at Western Kentucky University on December 6.

Both teams will get a good idea of where they stand after this game. A loss wouldn't hurt either teams chances at a state championship. Both teams have to face a very good Lexington Catholic team, before they play each other. Both teams have lost several coaches over the past year. It will be a knock down drag out fight, just like every other time these two teams have met. It's high school football at it's best and may the best team win.

Um, I think you might want to check your math. Twelve plus one equals thirteen, not fifteen. X has twelve titles, as in ten fewer tham Trinity or Highlands.

Just because X won championships before the KHSAA exist should not mean that they get excluded.

 

If they was the case then why does UK count some of their NIT championships in their total count?

 

X has 14 total championships going into the 2013 season!

UK doesn't count NIT championships. They have 8 NCAA titles. They'd have some Helm titles added to that count if they were counting "mythical" national titles. Prior to 1959 there were no real state titles.
