Blake Schneider is NOT a top 10 player in the 10th region. He didnt even play (much) varsity last year. I understand if you know the kid and want to get him some pub, but give us your legit top 10 and then throw him in as a sleeper. Good kid (from what I've seen/heard, and good soccer player), but Darion Burns, Dre Jackson, and Matt Wilson are all better players/prospects. Schneider has a lot of work to do before earning his way on to this list.

I am very confident in stating him in my top 10. Scott is a PG program. Obviously, you know very little about the program. In scouting the big 3 in that district (Brossart, Camels, Eagles) in big games for the Camels it was McGovney and Holbrook show. Against average competition both Jackson and Wilson played well. In both Brossart and Scott games for the Camels neither was a threat to score and liability on Defense.

I respect you Big Fundamental but I promise you, at end of January you will owe Mr. Schneider an apology.

I am a huge fan of small schools having came from one; so I am a huge Brent Bach fan as I was a Cory Pelle fan. However, in watching Montgomery County several times last year and at State Tourney, Bryan Wallace is best all around player between the 2. His pressure defense on opposing guards ( vs. Brossart in Regional Semifinal and in State tourney) is very, very good. However, Alex Trentman has biggest impact in blocking shots, steals, rebounding (offensive/defensive) and the ability to knock down open 3's makes him best player in region with Wallace on his heels.

First, If its such a PG program then why was Nick Jackson the primary guy the last 2 years. Nick Jackson was far from a PG, as per the prototypical PG, but against the Camels in districts last year, I watched Jackson bring the ball up the floor several times.

 

Second, I never said Schneider wasn't a nice player, so there is no need for an apology, I just said you have to earn your way on to that list, and since Schneider got very little varsity time last year, he has a lot of work/production to accumulate.

 

Thirdly, to say Schneider is a better player than Jackson, is an overstatement. Jackson averaged 10ppg as a sophomore, who was brand new to the system, having just moved in around August. 10ppg, for a sophomore, in a new system, with teammates like Holbrook, and McGoveny is pretty good. Jackson does need to get stronger on the defensive end, but I was told by a member closer to the program that his defense really picked up in summer ball for CCHS.

 

As for Wilson, this will be a telling year for him. He could have great numbers, or so-so numbers, we'll see how he picks up after coming back from football.

I agree with BF in regards to Schneider having to earn it, but I certainly think he can. Scott has a coach over there that will often get the best out of his players, and Schneider has talent and ability. From what I've seen, he can score, and will play pretty smart. I do think that he can get a little loose with his handles at times, but he will hustle and work hard. Defensively, I think he needs to get stronger as well. Again, just a junior to be, with a nice skill set, and will work hard to be his best.

 

In comparing him to Jackson, I may be a little biased as I've been around Dre all summer, but I'm telling you, he can flat out score. I watched him score on guards that were 3, sometimes 4 inches taller and stronger than him, or speedy guards that may be a little shorter and more feisty. He can fill it up from all 3 levels. How he plays defensively will be up to him... Don't be fooled, when he feels a player needs to be stopped, he is the first kid in the huddle asking to guard him, and he did just that a few times this year, and to his credit, did a pretty good job. I had a coach ask me this summer... "What doesn't this kid do?" Answer to that question is, hit the weights enough, but I believe it's because he puts so much effort into his game, that weights are secondary. That said, I think Dre will be far more comfortable this year in the school, with the system, and with his teammates. The production will be there on most nights, I believe... That's not to say he may not have a night or two when he's off, but that's basketball and that's a junior.

 

Lets add some passing potential and a bit of courage to rebound to his ability to score and he makes a real nice all-around player. Averaged over 3 assists per game, and was close to 5 before July period, and that was in a system where he didnt play a lot of PG.

 

Dre does need to get stronger, and still needs to improve defensively, especially on bigger, thicker guards, but I think Russell will get the best out of him. CCHS has the potential to be dangerous this year. A lot of that hinges on Wilson and McGovenys progression, IMO.

Very quick PG. He does lack size...That's for sure. I would say he is 5'8", 155.

You won't see him much at the varsity level, he will play behind two strong guards in Jeremy Jackson and Blake Schneider. He will be an exceptional JV player though.
