I think Jeremy Jackson of Scott deserves a spot on this list. Has a nice pull up jump shot. Like Darius Jones, he could potentially have a breakout year.

By the end of the season, I think you will have 3 Camels in the top 10 with Holbrook, Jackson and Wilson. Wilson's stats from last year are a little deceiving as he wasn't a starter until Christmas. Add in a sleeper at PG with McGovney and the Camels will be right there at the top of the region.

I expect Bryan Wallace could have a huge season. He scored 31 points in the one game Prewitt didn't play last year, and averaged 16 for the season. Also got 2.5 steals a game. Gave Brossart's guards a ton of trouble in the region last year, and put Warren Central away with a pair of on ball steals. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the second best player in the region.

 

It will be interesting to see how the Indians respond to the new coach.

Last years region runner up Scott lost 9 seniors, return only 3 players with varsity experience, but have 9 seniors again this year as well as very talented underclassman. The cupboard is by no means bare in Taylor Mill.

I would add that the Eagles have Brad Carr on the sidelines, arguably the top coach in the 10th.

 

The name is escaping me right now & I'm too lazy to look it up...who is the big boy who plays football & basketball both? Is he back?

I really like Henry's game & I agree that guard play will determine Mason County's success.

 

Wallace could very well be the #2 in the region, but I still like Shawn Johnson & Alex Trentman as 2 & 3, in some order. Last year, I would give Johnson the oh-so-slight nod over Trentman. This year, it might be the other way around since Trentman will be the focal point of the Brossart offense.

That's the guy. I thought he was back. Regardless, he's a bull down low.

How would the 10th Region fans evaluate the teams in terms of strengths & weaknesses?

 

For example, Augusta's strength (IMO) will undoubtedly be its back court, perhaps the best in the Region. Its front court, however, is an entirely different story. I also wonder if depth will be an issue for Coach Hinson's team.

 

Conversely, Mason County's front court will be one of the best, but the back court seems spotty. Brossart's front court will be the 10th's best IMO, but I have some questions about the guards (although I liked the Jennings kid last year).

 

Of the major contenders, Montgomery County & Campbell seem to be the most balanced teams. I haven't studied Harrison County enough to properly evaluate them. They had really good depth last year & return a top performer in Pulliam.

 

Maybe goldie can help us with GRC & I gotta go to work with Scott.

I wonder who everyone thinks are the top coaches in the region. I haven't thought a lot about it, but Coach Carr and Coach Humphrey stand out to me as being at or near the top.

I ask this question often with people who have been around & followed 10th Region boys basketball more than I. The three names I hear the most, in order, are Carr, Humphrey & Code.

I honestly don't see much of the 10th south of Campbell County, but I like Code's style better than the "in your face" Carr style. Both are very effective and both get the most out of their players.
