Smug? Everybody who gets that far in a quest for the White House is smug. :lol2:

McCain however displays a sort of fake smugness that is all his own.

I suppose you could debate over whether they were extremists or not. What does stand out about them as non-debatable is that one of them was smug and fake, the other not so much smug, just downright fake. Fake in a creepy sort of way too. The one before those two was fake as well. A puppet in a suit with the strings being pulled by Dick and Daddy.

Name the last candidate from either party who wasn't fake.

Two words, Bill Clinton.

I couldn't disagree more. From my vantage point, Obama & Romney had more smugness in their little fingers.

Agreed. That's why I'm not a proponent of any of the major parties. I too thought Bill was fake when he surfaced as the democratic candidate for the presidency years ago.

The whole system and its parties are financially backed by special interest groups and corporations who own these clowns. The concerns of the average citizen are secondary or non-existant.

Years and years of hanging around in the Congress etc... just makes the type of individual who runs for the presidency more and more fake and a perfect selection for either party, and just the type of fakeness they look for in a man or woman they want to represent them.

One thing in Mr. Clinton's favor however is that when he left the White House he had his hand in having the National Debt in better shape than it had been in quite awhile, all so that his successor could destroy his efforts and put the country in the worst shape it's ever been in, or close to it, by the time he left office.

He was like a kid that couldn't wait to blow his allowance. Then he sat back and watched his successor take the blame for it because of the shortsighted general public that is easily swayed by the media to have amnesia.

I was just answering to the original question of the last two R's that ran and added a bit of a reminder about the 3rd.

To answer the thread question: Sure, why not?

Two words, Bill Clinton.

I contend that in the fake smugness department, McCain takes the cake hands down. He no longer surprises or upsets me with it anymore as it has become expected. Now all I do is laugh at him. The man is shameless, pathetic, and ridiculous.

Guess we just see these guys differently. "Smug" is a word I personally do not associate with McCain. Romney? Absolutely. GWB? For sure. But I've never thought that of McCain.

I'm fetching for a word that describes a cynical, smug, fake liar that attempts to sway opinion by executing this tactic every time a microphone is stuck in his face. So "smug" alone might not be the appropriate word.

Is Obama an adjective yet.
Is Obama an adjective yet.

From a quick google search Barack means: A Blessing, Hussein means: Handsome, and Obama means: crooked, slightly bent, therefore his full name equates to something like: A handsome blessing who is slightly crooked.

What about his birth name? What does that mean?

Winner winner, chicken dinner!!!! :lol2::lol::clap::laugh::)

Do you think the R's past two candidates were extremists?

The last 2 Rep candidates were not extremists, but had to address extreme right issues to get the nomination. The problem is the party itself is not perceived as being inclusive. They need to stay out of people's bedrooms and their religious and social beliefs to attract the the national majority. They will continue to win local and state elections, but have huge issues to overcome nationally. We will see another black, a hispanic and female elected. No doubt in my mind. Dems have a more unified and organized machine and can win with inferior candidates on the national level.
