June 30, 201313 yr How many BGPers are Cruisers? And by that I am talking Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, Celebrity, etcetera, etcetera. My wife and I are joining another couple on a cruise in a couple of weeks and this will be our third cruise. We have been on a 4 day cruise a 5 day cruise and this one will be a 7 day cruise. We have been to Nassau(2X), Grand Turk, Cocoa Cay and Half Moon Cay. Our upcoming Carnival Conquest cruise will take us to Mahogany Bay, Cozumel and Belize. We love cruising and we really enjoy Carnival. We have sailed Royal Caribbean as well. Any other Cruisers out here in BGP land?
June 30, 201313 yr My parents were big cruisers before their divorce and they loved Royal Carribbean. I've been one two (hard to count the first because I was so young). The one that I remembered, we sailed out of Puerto Rico and hit up the ABC's of the Carribbean. I'm thinking about potentially going on one in the next 1-3 years. I think they are fantastic, great experience for the money. I heard an Alaskan cruise is awesome!
June 30, 201313 yr I've been on one Carnival to the Bahamas and Half Moon. I proposed to my wife on the beach of the Atlantis. I absolutely love cruises, its the only true vacation I've been on, where I'm disconnected from home and stuck on a giant pool with a buffet. We are going on the Disney cruise next summer I'm already counting down the months. I liked Carnival it's perfectly fine but will probably do Royal Carib for our next adult cruise it's a cut above I've heard.
June 30, 201313 yr I have been on 13 cruises of varying types, lengths and cruise lines. I will be going on another one next Spring. I do love cruises. I know some people that don't like cruises, but I have never had a bad experience. I don't really have a favorite cruise line, but have been on Norwegian Cruise Line the most. I know that there have been negative news stories about cruise ships, but that does not discourage me. In fact, it just brings the price of cruises down for awhile.

We both enjoy a drink or two or twenty a day when we are on vacation:lol2:. I'm sure the drink prices on the ships are comparable to ball game prices and that's what has turned us off from cruising. Anyone know of a cruise line that offers drink packages ?
June 30, 201313 yr The wife and I took a cruise on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. We went out of Tampa and stopped at Key West, Costa Maya, Belize, and Cozumel. As for drinks, the prices weren't all that bad from what I recall. The key to save money is to just drink the 'drink of the day'.

Anyone know of a cruise line that offers drink packages ? Carnival now has what is called a Cheers program. You get all of the soda that you want and up to 15 alcoholic beverages a day for 50.00 a day. You have to enroll on the first or second day you are there. I'll definitely be enrolling as soon as I board the ship. The only thing you pay for on the ship is alcohol and my bar tabs were astronomical my first two cruises. :lol: The Cheers program looks to be the way to go.

June 30, 201313 yr Is it free to get to the beaches in Belize and Cozumel and are there vendors there bugging you on the beach? In all of our stops, we never got hassled by vendors. They pretty much stay near, or in, their shops. When we went in 2004, Belize was a tender port. You had to take a smaller ship into port. They were also working on the port area. If I recall, there was no beach to walk to at the port. We took an excursion that took us on a boat ride up the coast to Stingray Alley to do some snorkeling. On the way back, we stopped at a beach for a grill out. In Cozumel, I believe there are (or were) 2 different ports. The port we stopped out had shopping centers and a 1/2 Senor Frogs. There was also a small beach area, so you didn't have to leave the port to access a beach. We also did an excursion in Cozumel where we went 4-wheeling on the beach, then stopped for some swimming, beach volleyball, and another grill out. We went back to the ship, changed into some dry clothes, and then went drinking at Senor Frogs with people from our boat.

June 30, 201313 yr Been on 7 Cruises. But 6 were courtesy of the US Navy. NOT THE SAME......... Went on Norwegian several years ago, and highly recommend them. Older crowd (as opposed to younger on Carnival) and really really enjoyed it. Parents have been on 40+ cruises all over the world (From big cruise ships to flat-bottomed river cruises in Europe). Its the best way to travel.
