June 28, 201313 yr I was under the impression that the 76ers gave up a 2014 1st and Holiday for Noel... If the Hornets gave up Noel and the 1st for Holiday, things make a little more sense to me.
June 28, 201313 yr Why would anyone give up a 1st for next years draft unless your getting an All-Star as part of the trade.
June 28, 201313 yr Also heard locally last night on 840 am out of Louisville that several teams were turned off by his "entourage" and he had shown a lack of good judgment in their eyes. What that means I don't know as I never heard anything bad about him while at UK and they didn't elaborate. That's just stupid (not directed at you BigVMan). Sounds more like Louisville talking heads just trying to stir up something that doesn't exist.

June 29, 201313 yr The trade makes New Orleans better now but it is very risky. Gordon, Holliday and Davis is a very good, young foundation. I think the price was steep though.
June 29, 201313 yr The way I look at it is yeah Nerlens may have fell out of the top 5, but apparently he was good enough to be traded for an All-Star PG (a commodity in the modern NBA). Pretty good praise IMO, even though a 1st rounder was included. I think with Holliday, Gordon, Davis, Anderson, Vasquez, and whoever else they sign in free agency (lots of cap space) they will have a good year thus meaning I don't look for Philly's pick from NO to be all that high, at least not top 10. So IMO it speaks a lot of how some GM's viewed Noel, may not have been #1 or even top three but in the end he was still thought of highly enough to be traded for an All-Star. Thats good enough for me........
June 29, 201313 yr Would not be shocked if what BigV heard about "lack of good judgment" was part of this. Showing off the "Kentucky 3" inside his jacket after dropping so far might just be the tip of the iceberg. Unlike BigV, I did hear firsthand accounts of bad conduct while at UK and can only hope that he matures and makes better choices as he grows up. All these guys are "godded up" too much for their age and maturity, but that is the system from grade school to AAU to 1 yr. of college to the pros. Are you serious on "showing the 3 in his jacket" This was his way of paying tribute to BBN for all the support we have shown him this season. I for one applaud him for wanting to give back to the fan base. Another player had his national flag on the inside of his jacket to show support of his country. Was this in "poor judgement too as you stated it was for Noel"? On the bolded, you posted you have "firsthand " accounts of bad conduct. Like other posters, this is the first I have heard of this and don't believe a word of it. Since you have "firsthand" knowledge why keep it till now....ummmmm.
June 29, 201313 yr That's just stupid (not directed at you BigVMan). Sounds more like Louisville talking heads just trying to stir up something that doesn't exist. Actually one of the NBA people came on KSR and said the same thing so it's not that stupid. They said his entourage made it near impossible to get in touch with him and that multiple teams could not reach him and that they constantly put them off. So it's not really just Louisville people talking stuff.
June 29, 201313 yr Any idea the $ difference between 1st & 6th pick? I know they are pretty much slotted under the new CBA and not nearly as big a gap as it used to be, but gotta figure a few million over the life of his rookie contract. Would not be shocked if what BigV heard about "lack of good judgment" was part of this. Showing off the "Kentucky 3" inside his jacket after dropping so far might just be the tip of the iceberg. All these guys are "godded up" too much for their age and maturity, but that is the system from grade school to AAU to 1 yr. of college to the pros. Enlighten us.
June 30, 201313 yr Dan Patrick's sources heard the same thing about the entourage. Him dropping that far just doesn't make sense.
July 1, 201313 yr That's just stupid (not directed at you BigVMan). Sounds more like Louisville talking heads just trying to stir up something that doesn't exist. Yep. Louisville folks just out to get ole Nerlens. As if they ever were.
July 1, 201313 yr Him dropping that far just doesn't make sense. He played 2/3 of one college season, now has a bum knee and a limited offensive game. It's really not all that surprising, IMO. Some people are acting like he fell to the 2nd round.
July 1, 201313 yr Some on here act as if Noel is cant miss and seem to use the UK fandom as denial that he is a risky pick. I'm a big UK fan but you gotta see it for what it is. Dot understand all the hate for people who have a different opinion.
July 1, 201313 yr I am not buying the entourage as a reason Noel dropped. The fact is, Noel is a risky pick. All the issues that have been pointed out by others - knee (obviously), thin body, no offensive game, terrible at the foul line - all those would give me great pause if I were sitting at the top of the draft. I will be interested in seeing how his body handles the rigors of the NBA. I see Noel as a Noah or a Dennis Rodman type player - defense, rebounding, garbage points. Is that the #1 pick in the draft?
