Splitter made two of the first couple of Spurs buckets in OT, or so I thought. I may be remembering that wrong, there was a lot to keep up with last night.

I really can't get over how Popovich mis-managed that game from 4th quarter on. Ginobli is an accident waiting to happen, and Pop put the championship on his shoulders several times the last part of the game. I understand wanting the veteran to get it done but it is over for Ginobli. Neal and Diaw should be getting more minutes than Ginobli, unless he gets hot and shows it is going to be another one of those now unexpected good nights for him. Obviously, Ginobli was bad the whole game and Popovich just kept him out there. Turnovers, missed free throw, poor rotation on defense, poor decision making - down 1, 10 seconds to go and he goes 1 on 5, yes, 1 on 5, watch the video - wow, he was bad. And Popovich was even worse for leaving him out there. I really think that is why Popovich was so snippy in his post game press conference - he knows he is the biggest reason the Spurs blew that game last night.

 

And let's make this clear. Cats3x says the Heat deserved that game? Even a Heat fan really can't believe that. The Heat made bad play after bad play, missed shots ... fortunately for them, Ginobli and the Spurs made even more bad plays and kept giving them chances. When you miss shots and turn the ball over like the Heat did in the last minute of regulation, especially when trailing, there should be zero chance of winning the game.

The Heat have DWade on their team. They don't deserve anything.

I believe the Heat deserved the game. They had their backs against the wall, they were down and out, but they still fought to the end. They were down 10 to start the fourth, came back and went ahead. Then SA takes the lead and looks like they are going to finish up and win the title on their home floor, and they battled and refused to lose that way. I can't see how anyone can say they didn't deserve that win considering how hard they fought for it. Especially Lebron late.

I've enjoyed this thread other than the insane comment that the Heat deserved that game. Come on, even if you are cheering for the Heat take the blinders off, good grief the Spurs BLEW that game.

 

For the no calls, yes some were bad, but as someone cheering for the Spurs (mainly because I hate the Heat) I put this loss squarely on themselves, so screw the no calls. Grab a rebound and hoist the trophy, or knock down free throws and hoist the trophy, or play Duncan at the end and hoist the trophy.......you get the point.

This is exactly what I'm saying. The Heat didn't win, the Spurs lost. I usually don't buy into that kind of line but when you witness what happened last night, when they were rolling the trophy out from the back for goodness sake, it's pretty clear.

 

How devestated must the Spurs be to have the trophy rolled out near their bench and then have it rolled back away :lol2:

Danny Green was fouled but Manu took four steps before he was. Should have been a walk even by NBA standards. Ginobili picked up his dribble at the 3 point line.

Spurs did blow it, but that doesn't mean that Miami didn't "deserve" to win. The way they fought until the end, they deserved the outcome. Doesn't mean the necisarily earned it, but they definitely deserved it.

They both deserved to win. It was one of the best basketball games I have ever watched. Although both made mistakes, and the Spurs mistakes ended up costing them the most, it doesn't mean that one or the other deserved it or didn't deserve it. IMO they both deserved to win.

I'm just going to put it this way.....

 

Miami down 10 entering the fourth and looking like they were going to lose another Finals. They weren't getting production from anybody other than Mario Chalmers, not Wade, not Bosh, not Allen, not even James. All hope looked to be lost and it seemed to be a formality at that point. The Spurs have proven during this series that once they're up that big, they are usually coasting to a win.

 

So Miami (primarily Lebron) battles back from 10 down to take the lead and then late in the fourth runs into a wall and loses the lead to a pair of huge Tony Parker buckets. Once again, it looked like a grim outcome for Miami. To the point they were down 5 with 20 seconds left. Instead of laying down and losing the game and accepting fate like what usually happens in those situations, they continued to fight. They fought for every rebound, every point to get it to overtime. In OT they fought some more and finally edged SA out.

 

Considering their backs were against the wall and all hope seemed lost, how did they not deserve to win after battling that kind of adversity? I mean really? That was one of the hardest fought wins I have ever saw, how is that not deserving?
