They scored the first 17 points of the game and did not trail during regulation. UK had to drive 77 yards to score in the last thirty seconds just to force OT. UK's 14-3 win the year before wasn't exactly a resounding whipping either. They didn't put that game away until Newton scored with 4 minutes left. No, last year's UK team wasn't good. At all. They weren't good the year before either. But here we stand that 2 of the 3 games in the series have been very close affairs, within 1 possession late in the 4th Quarter each of the last two years. Sell me better on why I should believe that has suddenly shifted to an easy UK win.

I have no reason at all to believe that UK is automatically better than WKU today because of their 2014 class. WKU is going to come into the game fully believing they will win with a coach who is more proven than Stoops is when it comes to coahing. UK still isn't even going to be a complete team this season and will likely be 2015 before they make a bowl again. I'm with you, DF.

I would rather have mediocre players with GREAT coaching than great players with bad coaching.

Agreed on Joker. All we know about Stoops and company is that they can recruit their butts off. Even if their tremendous recruiting translates to wins I don't expect to see those wins until 2015. Conventional wisdom says they'll beat WKU this year but it isn't a given. Yet.

WKU by 10 now that they run an offense and have a QB that can make throws 15+ yards down the field. WKU's offense was probably the easiest to defend in all of college football last season, find #5 Andrews.

June 20, 201313 yr Hats off to the coaching staff on getting kids. Now the trouble is keeping them. Long time to signing day. The good thing they have going for them right now is they havent played a game. So they can sell them on playing time and style of play. But there is 4 weeks during their season I wouldnt want to be UK. Lousiville Florida Bama So. Carolina. That is why I think WKU is a MUST win. While I understand your logic and what I'm interpreting as your point that a bad season could cause some of the commits to look elsewhere, a bad season could easily, honestly and logically spun in a positive way to the verbal commits: "this is why we need you and this is why if you are as good as you think you are, you will see the field quickly if you honor your commitment and come to UK".

This is my thought process as well. Being a part of the UK football rejuvenation is something that I think could be sold as well. And it is SEC football.

I dont disagree with what you are saying. If they can compete during these weeks and not lose ugly. (like some of last season losses) Ugly losses to teams that kids have offers from could change their minds.

While I thoroughly enjoyed last year's win and have rubbed my UK friend's faces in it since that day, I think it will be a different story this year. I hope you're right though.
June 22, 201313 yr I talking about this is 4 straight weeks of playing top 25 talented teams. Might be suprised how good UL could be this year. Ill never acknowledge that UL is good ever! :walk: But seriously, I always think the SEC games are the most important games for UK.
July 4, 201313 yr Joker was awful--the worst. I remember they asked him before the season last year about his team and he said something like "uh, you know, we might be as good as last year, in places we are as strong as last year." How inspiring!!! And they sucked two years ago. Glad he is gone. Stoops is sitting in a great spot right now because none of the UK teams have had much inspiration to go better than 500 and get to a second rate bowl game. WKU won because Joker was outcoached and then made a lame excuse that WKU ran a trick play because they were playing an SEC team. Were they really? Didn't look like it. Sorry for venting but it is one thing to get beat but another to have never been in the game. PS: I agree that they will beat WKU easily this year.
