Now, he and his lawyer have told ABC 15 it was a case of "DWB." "It's driving while black," Thornton told the station. His attorney, Marc J. Victor, seconded the assertion. On Monday, Thornton filed a notice of claim to sue the Surprise Police Department for $500,000 for emotional distress and violating his civil rights. In the notice, obtained by The Huffington Post, he asserts that racial profiling fueled his arrest in a four-year pattern of harassment by local police. He had been stopped 10 previous times and ticketed on four occasions for violations he did not commit, the document says. But the December incident spurred him to action. June 10, 201313 yr Author I would like to see the probable cause listed for the arrest on the complaint. It looks to me like the AZ police have a problem. On the other side, I wondering if this guy is a horribly bad driver that struggles both physically and seeing at night and therefore would appear to be intoxicated?

Some may laugh at your comment but a friend of mine actually was pulled over and tested for intoxication and the conclusion was that she is just a bad driver. She probably should not be driving to be honest.

She probably should not be driving to be honest. It is not a laughing matter (and I know you are not saying it is). As we all know, our skills diminish as we get older and it is very evident in some drivers.

I assumed he couldn't afford one like me at the time, and he said that he couldn't drive worth a crap. He said "how many brothers you see in NASCAR?". Never forget it. June 10, 201313 yr There is no question that DWB still exists in some areas. It is my hope that the numbers of those areas have been and will continue to shrink over the decades until eventually such stupidity is gone.

You'd appreciate it. He was black black. I'm talking Manute Bol black. And I was white white. Back in the day I had snow white blond hair. Our baseball coach in college said when we were together it looked like someone took the top off an oreo cookie. It wasn't racial, it was funny. He's currently mad I'm not on twitter so he can aggravate me.
June 10, 201313 yr There is no question that DWB still exists in some areas. When I was young I thought DWB was an urban legend. I mean, why would cops stop someone because they're black? But over the years numerous black friends have told me it's happened to them. So it definitely happens and (you're right Clyde) it still happens today. I'm not saying it happened in this case cause I don't know all the facts but I won't be surprised if it's true.
