June 10, 201313 yr That was one of the crazier stats I have ever heard. How does that happen? Climate. Wisconsin doesn't even have a baseball team anymore.
June 11, 201313 yr I wonder if in this day and age of turf fields and indoor facilities if that changes? Back in the day when I was going to school at Louisville they really didn't get any games in until the spring break trip south. Now they start playing in early February.
June 11, 201313 yr Man, what a year for athletics for Louisville. I wouldn't mind seeing UofL take the gold home but I'll prefer it to go home with one of the SEC schools.
June 11, 201313 yr It's gonna be a LONG week for me at work. All my bosses are IU fans, and/or Alum. The smack talk is flyin', but I'm recruiting for my team. So far, I have some UK fans who'd never cheer for UL for any reason...except that it's IU we're playing. I do have a few other peeps that live here in Louisville, but we're vastly out numbered. I'm in full Cardinal Fan recruiting mode in French Lick and West Baden, IN.
June 15, 201313 yr All I know is that I am looking forward to this next week and the CWS. As for picks I feel that LSU is the best team in the tournament. Miss. St. and Louisville may be the "hottest" teams going in. Oregon St. is a very dangerous team. Seems like UNC is not getting as much attention that you would think a #1 ranked would and they will be a tough out. I will go ahead and pick LSU to win the National Championship. On a side note....I don't know who suggested those butt ugly 70's / Astros style uni's at UL but that person should be fired :lol2: . Those things were ugly in the 70's (and anyone who is a child of the 70's like me knows that's a statement) and they have not gotten any better looking in the last 40 years. The striped unis may prove an advantage for the Cards, any UL opponent could lose concentration from laughing at those things. CWS starts tomorrow.......PLAY BALL !!
June 15, 201313 yr I started thinking about the old Astros that wore those uni's like Nolan Ryan, Alan Ashby, JR Richards, Cesar Cedeno, etc. Mike Scott
June 16, 201313 yr Came here to see how Louisville did.... Crickets. So I went to the NCAA site. Indiana 2 Louisville 0 Mississippi State 5 Oregon State 4 Monday: Louisville plays Oregon State at 3. (Elimination game.) Mississippi State plays Indiana at 8.
June 16, 201313 yr That was two good games yesterday. I know the UL fans don't think so and I am not "rubbing it in" bc I hate anything IU. I will say that the IU catcher is as good as I have seen this season in college baseball, was really impressed with him in the regionals as well. UL no doubt has a good team, that is a big ball park and they are built for that with plenty of speed and good defense. Losing game 1 of a double elimination tourney will be tough on them but they do have pitching depth. IU just played good, sound fundamental baseball and it seemed their pitchers curve kept the Cards off balance all day.I also thought that was a huge win for MSU over the #3 ranked Oregon St. team. Today the power teams...UNC, LSU are playing.
June 16, 201313 yr That was extremely unpleasant. ...........and long too. A 2-0 game takes over 3.5 hours. You really have to make a time commitment tp watch a college game.
June 16, 201313 yr ^ Yet Maine used to be a perennial player. :thumb: I remember when they were pretty much a regular in Omaha, 80s I believe. Mike Scott Also Cesar Cedeno I believe.
June 16, 201313 yr #1 UNC goes down, N.C. State / lhp Rodon made short work of them. I don't know how deep N.C. St's pitching is but Rodon was as good, probably better than any college pitcher I can remember seeing this year, he shut out a powerful UNC team until they scored 1 run in the 9th. Rodon's slider was wicked...unhittable today.
June 17, 201313 yr I guess that we can call this CWS "June Madness". LSU has an error and wp cost them in a loss to UCLA (who I didn't give a remote chance :lol2:). Now there is three of the top five national seeds in the losers bracket after the first round. Welcome to College Baseball..
