May 23, 201313 yr It's been my own experience from the limited number of English people I've met that things like this don't seem to faze their belief that the city is better off without the guns. Whether that's a reasonable thought is neither here nor there as that's what they seem to think. But, there were 99 total murders last year in London, one of the most populous cities on the planet. That's stunning on its own. Only six of those were committed with guns. I get this type of news update from the Cincy TV stations about every day or so. 3 wounded in midday shooting in Over-the-Rhine Victims taken to UCMC UPDATED 1:14 PM EDT May 23, 2013 Officers were sent to the intersection of Elm and Liberty streets just after 12:30 p.m. to find two women and a man wounded. The victims, all believed to be in their 20s, were taken to UC Medical Center for treatment. No names or conditions have been released, but police said the wounds were not life-threatening. WLWT News 5 will have the latest on this story as it becomes available.

May 23, 201313 yr Are you not blaming law enforcement in Britian for not being able to respond with guns? Not even close. I'm not blaming them for anything. Someone said they had to wait to apprehend the suspect until armed law enforcement showed up. I simply said law enforcement should be armed. The other comment was in regards to Habib's comment regarding accidential deaths at the hands of police. Had nothing to do with this incident.

My comments that law enforcement need to be armed has nothing, I repeat NOTHING, to do with this specific incident. This thread happened to be where it was brought up that British LE is not armed, which I think is about the most ignorant thing I've ever heard, thus I said they should be.
May 23, 201313 yr First, a shocking incident, and wholly British in the way it unfolded....I know quite a few British and they are not up in arms (no pun intended) about the response by law enforcement or that their officers don't carry weapons. Personally, I feel it's a better way to police.

May 23, 201313 yr You feel it's a better way to police in the US or just for the British? It works for the British, but given our much more "wild west" sort of culture it wouldn't work, though I wish we could have that kind of policing.
May 24, 201313 yr Saw the horrible video this morning on CNN before I left for work this morning. Wish they would have alerted the viewing audience before they showed the footage. Our son is deployed right now and we just lost a member of the NKY community last week due to suicide bombers. I have no sympathy for the scum who did this.
