He had a blood-alcohol level of 0.47 percent, nearly six times the legal limit for driving.

 

After some debate, a couple friends decided to take Aiden Mohr to the hospital but instead of alerting medical staff police said he was left in the lobby with a note.

This is one of the many problems with underage people drinking, when they have had too much to drink and can't function you never know what your "friends" are going to (or not going to) do for you.

If I was him I'd be pretty upset with my so-called friends and I'd be finding some new ones.

 

Them staying to attend to him could have meant him living or dying.

I'm going to cut his friends a little bit of slack here. At least they didn't dump him in a room to sleep and go back to partying which is usually the case. Yeah, they should have alerted someone at the hospital that he was there but at least they did the right thing by taking him to the hospital.

I agree, but a knock on the window at the nurse's station with a little head's up might have been a bit more honorable.

Agreed. I know a lot of colleges are adopting policies that allow students to call for help in these situations without getting in trouble. I forget what they are called, but it seems sensible.

The probably still will. They likely only impacted the timing vs. the action. It can not be too hard to figure out who was involved.

It's hard to feel sorry for someone who does something so stupid. Definitely from the shallow end of the gene pool, as were his friends.

Good policy. Also brings back the debate of our countries dumb drinking laws. All the 21 year old law does is force kids into these dumb unsupervised acts. If parents were allowed to teach their kids how to drink responsibly at a younger age without fear of the law it would put a large dent into youth binge drinking . It amazes me we outlaw college students from drinking when everyone on this board knows a majority are drinking.

My 17 year ol leaves for boot camp June 10th ... She should be able to pop a top on a frosty Blue Moon if she so chooses .
