Good policy. Also brings back the debate of our countries dumb drinking laws. All the 21 year old law does is force kids into these dumb unsupervised acts. If parents were allowed to teach their kids how to drink responsibly at a younger age without fear of the law it would put a large dent into youth binge drinking . It amazes me we outlaw college students from drinking when everyone on this board knows a majority are drinking.

Little wonder that back in the days of my WKU stint that the people who ended up passed out first -- and then promptly decorated with magic marker and unfortunate unbalanced shavings of half their beard, mustache, eyebrows and hair -- are always the ones who came from dry counties, where mom and grandma always stupidly preached things about how you can't control yourself when on the "demon brew." Little wonder that those kids always sought to live up to momma and granny's preachings, the ultimate self-fulfilling prophesy.

 

Know your limitations, kids, and leave the heavy lifting to the professionals, not the amateurs.

Lipton, not sure if you are aware but years ago it was legal for 18 year olds to drink in a lot of states. Back in the early 80's, Ky was 21 and Ohio was 18. I spent my college years driving over the river for my supplies and bar hopping. I guess someone thought it was a bad idea and changed it to 21.

As for someone in the military. I would be hard pressed not to serve them a cold one if they walked into my bar and showed me a military ID. I'd serve them just because they are serving us!

A good friend of mine took something like 15 shots in one hour in high school. He was obviously rushed to the hospital shortly thereafter, but he said that he felt absolutely great when he woke up. The hospital pumps so many fluids into your system using an IV that you're not hungover at all.

I'm aware . MADD influenced the federal government to force states with highway tax dollars to raise the state drinking ages.

It's hard to feel sorry for someone who does something so stupid. Definitely from the shallow end of the gene pool, as were his friends.

Hogwash. Hunter S. Thompson was a raging alcoholic and I would argue he's more intelligent than the overwhelming majority of folks on BGP. You're just looking at it simplistically from the standpoint that all alcohol is bad/evil.

I could not care less about alcohol. I think drinking in moderation is fine, if that's what one wants to do. But drinking that much in excess, shows lack of maturity and intelligence.

I don't know, if you take 20 shots of tequila in that short amount of time you're probably not a bright bulb.
