May 14, 201313 yr That's a clown warning track bro. That's a clown heads up from my fellow outfielders bro. You ought to play sans necklace bro. Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers - Recap - May 13, 2013 - ESPN
May 14, 201313 yr I wonder if any players will have second thoughts about wearing necklaces after seeing that?
May 14, 201313 yr I can't help but want to harken back to a post that I made almost one year ago exactly in the "Bryce Harper to make ML Debut" thread: I’m not a fan of Hamels and I’m not a fan of Harper’s haircut or his intentionally smeared eye black that seems all the rage these days with the kids, so I don’t have a dog in the fight so to speak, but stealing home after being plunked is pretty punkrock... Mark my words, Bryce Harper's 100% all-out, all the time effort (a la Ryan Freel) will land him on the DL sooner rather than later. Though, the Cult of Charlie Hustle - aka most Cincy fans - will never understand it, going full speed all the time, including into walls, the stands, diving for every ball, and sliding head first into bags is not a very responsible (to your team or to your contract) way to play. What’s better, diving full speed 3 rows deep into the stands after a foul ball with 2 out and none on in a 4 run game in LA and in the process kicking an elderly woman in the face and cutting her with your spikes? Or letting the foul drop four rows deep, not injuring yourself and others, and “living to fight another day?” (Yes, this is an actual description of a Ryan Freel play. I remember it so distinctly because it was the exact moment that I knew the Ryan Freel was not a scrappy player squeezing every drop out of his abilities and thus earning the admiration of every Pete Rose Reds fan, but in actuality, just an idiot.)
May 14, 201313 yr Author Not a fan of the kid at all. I played outfield behind a cruddy pitching staff for 4 years in college. And I can say with utmost assurance, the warning track is your friend. He wasn't making a play, just didn't head the warning of the proverbial track. I have a tough time rooting for him to say the least.
May 14, 201313 yr He plays hard and I do admire that, but at some point the Nationals are going to have to sit him down before he kills himself.
May 14, 201313 yr I'm amazed he wasn't aware of his surroundings. He has to play smarter. And I like the kid. I like brash athletes.

Plays the way fans always want regardless of the play or score - all out. Not sure what the heck he was doing here. Looked like he had time to stop.

May 14, 201313 yr So people dislike him because he's not smart? He plays like he doesn't care about getting injured. You don't do your team any good on the DL. Just look at Freel...he Charlie Hustled himself right out of Major League Baseball.

Looked like he had time to stop. The crotch grabbing incident, several on camera interviews. I think the kid is a punk. I'm sure others love him.
May 14, 201313 yr I have a love hate with Harper. Love how he hustles and plays baseball how it should be played. I hate him in the fact that I think he is an arrogant son of a gun. He may need to tone it down just a little before he gets seriously injured.
