Stanton hit 37 in 2/3 of a season last year in a huge ballpark with little protection in the lineup. And he was only 22 years old. Put him in GABP hitting between Votto and Bruce and 50 is not a stretch.
May 6, 201313 yr Author Having Stanton's bat in the lineup would allow you to look for a good defensive CF, offense would not have to be a priority at that position. Especially is Mesoraco develops into the hitter that he was projected to in the minors. If you need a leadoff hitter at that position bring Choo back. In a perfect world yes, but that's a whole different issue... $$$ And to say lead off isn't an offensive priority... Reds don't wanna go that route again...

I didn't say leadoff wasn't a priority. I said an offensive CF wouldn't have to be a priority--unless the team is dead set that their leadoff hitter has to come from the CF position. If you need a leadoff hitter, bring Choo back. He's not going to be cheap but we're not talking about a $15 million a year player there. The Reds ownership has enough money to do that especially considering Stanton will not make as much as he would command on the open market.

May 9, 201313 yr Interesting, that same package that was mentioned in the article? Anything is possible but I can't imagine the Marlins going for the package mentioned by the writer. That was all his idea. I'd have to think that they would ask for either Cingrani or Hamilton if not both.
May 9, 201313 yr Sounded like it was on hold, not off the table... The Marlins can't give up until the summer (some would argue they gave up in Spring Training). If they are going to trade Stanton, they need to dangle him in front of everyone starting now. let the bidding begin. I'd be very surprised if he becomes a Red.
