May 8, 201313 yr Also, I read where when asked about the Meso homer, Medlen commented that "that ball is an out at most ballparks." That's an Oscar Mayer Bologna excuse. Pitcher's use it a lot when there is a loss like this to the Reds. Bottom line is is that your guys had 27 outs in the same ballpark and didn't get it done. Tip your cap, tell the media he hit a good pitch out of the ballpark, and move on. No excuses. That's more of an observation than it is an excuse.

May 8, 201313 yr Author See VOR, Dusty had a solid reason to let Leake hit there. No reason on God's green earth he should have started that inning on the bump facing that part of the lineup with that pitch count.

I guess some of those runs could have been on Leake but reading through this thread made me think Leake gave up 7 and the relievers shut them down. I was just surprised when I saw the box score. He promptly gave up two singles and the route was on.
