May 8, 201313 yr Everyone loves to rail on Bruce, but Frazier is easily the one that's more lost at the plate. Not sure why everyone gives him a free pass. Frazier has gotten more of a pass because he hit some homers early. Also, even as his average has dropped he has continued to drive in some runs. Prior to his night off last night he had driven in runs in 4 straight games (5 total).
May 8, 201313 yr 15-17 have more Pennants, 16-17 have won a World Series. Baker was fortunate to have Barry Bonds on his team during his peak. Without Bonds on his roster his record is a very pedestrian 760-732 for a winning percentage of .509 with one playoff series win in 9 seasons. He's a very average manager who relates well with his players. Sure, and I can say take away the last season "fluke" year in Chicago and his winning percentage goes up by probably 25 points. I am not trying to say he is the greatest manager ever. As I mentioned above, I didn't even like him when the Reds hired him and I thought it was a mistake. But there is no doubt he is an above average manager. With his track record, I don't see how anyone could say he isn't in the top 25% of best managers of all time.

But he had went 9 games in a row before that without driving in any and he didn't have the hot start that Frazier did. It's easy to look at Frazier's HR and RBI totals and give him a pass when he's been going as poorly as anyone offensively lately.
