Best team in school history? If so, I think they need to go out and test the waters so to speak and see how they stack up against the rest of the state. You might be surprised how well they do. Or maybe not! Only way to see is to give it a try.

It looks to be an exciting season at Raceland. That front line is huge. As to the concerns about the toughness of the schedule, I would not be worried at all. You have to play the big schools and the tough teams if you want to win a title. Don't worry about maybe losing a game or two. Get battle tested against the best competition, find your weaknesses and get them fixed for the play off run. The Guru better order some extra orange font for this Raceland season. I agree with you on scheduling out of district that are as good or better than you. My comments on the schedule really didn't have a thing to do with afraid to lose a game or two. Raceland has always played a tough schedule and taken pride in that. I guess my concern was getting a team beat up (injuries) before the playoffs but that goes along with it and a kid can get injured in any game. I like the tough schedule, should the Rams want a regular season cake walk then they would contact some of the teams that Fairview has played. That argument has lost a lot of steam as well due to Fairview making it to the state title game.

I honestly believe this talk about being the best team in Raceland history is a bit premature. The talk of this being the toughest Raceland schedule ever is also premature. In my opinion, this team has to show alot more toughness, particularly on defense.

The strength of schedule could be better, but adding Ironton, OH, and Coal Grove, OH were upgrades. Ironton is a great team year-in and year-out, that is a huge game and with it right before the playoffs should be a good measuring stick for the Rams. Coal Grove is a good team and is a formidable opponent. After that and the district games, Raceland is playing all the bigger schools in the area, with Ashland leading the way - being the largest school in NEKY. The only 1A schools on the schedule are the district games. The hardest schedule ever? No, but it should provide a measuring tool of where the strengths and weaknesses are.

Most see the size, but are surprised at their footwork. Johnson, Manis, and Boggs all three attended the NUC Combine and every coach I spoke with talked about their feet. The three even noticed it themselves and made the comment that their coaches must be pretty good because everyone kept complimenting them on their footwork.

I've had all of them at my house, I can tell you without a doubt sympathy is not the word for it. I was scared to reach for food.

The coaching staff always has a winning game plan...the players have to execute it to win. The coaches can't play for them. Mental toughness and player leadership will be the key to a successful season in Ramland.

I think this team will be good. I think it will depend on the playing of the qb (Elkins) and his decisions on the throws he makes. Seen the kid play 2 yrs ago thought he was a better qb rolling out did not like watching him drop back last yr at all. Also depends on if the backs can hold on the ball this yr also seems like I seen in the stats sheet alot of fumbles last yr. I dont think this team will be as good as the 09' team but I would like to see them prove me wrong.
