The Best High School B-Ball Game You've Ever Seen?

Featured Replies

The best game I ever saw was either the 92 or 93 All A Classic when Heff Conley of Elkhorn City scored 52 and Jeremy Hall of Allen Central scored 47. It was a shootout between these two. Hall had somewhere around 12 threes.

I am very fond of the 98 semifinal between Scott County and Lex Cath, Rick Jones had a great tourney and actually hit the game winner a deep three for this game. I lived in Lexington at the time and you could actually feel the life of the lex cath and Danny Haney sucked out of Rupp, it was awesome

The Paintsville and Shelby Valley game last year in the 15th Region tournament was a great game.

The Paintsville Prestonsburg game in '78 was before my time but I think it was 7 overtimes. Paintsville won 69-67.

A few more Tiger Classics

2002 All "A" cregional final against South Floyd. PHS won by one point and both teams shot lights out all night long.

2002 Again Paintsville and South Floyd in the regional semi-finals. PHS came back from a 26 point deficit in the 3rd quater to win by 1.

1996 Paintsville won the first two games by 2 points on there way to the State Title.

This game was pretty amazing to watch. The fourth quarter was so high tempo, back and forth w/ each team one upping the other.

[Henry Clay-Carlisle Co and Ballard vs Clay Co. when Farmer scored 50. Games were totally opposite, but both were very exciting.

i think pendleton county vs mason county this year at the Mason County Fieldhouse. The game went to 2ot. Mason had the chance at the end of the 4th qtr., end of 1st ot, and the beginning of the 2nd ot. The key shot was terry davis 3pointer with about 3secs left in regulation play. that was prolly the best game i have ever saw. Pendleton County came away with the win in 2ots.

Speaking of Victor and Barnes. The Henderson County- UHA game in i believe in 92 was a great game.

I think you are thinking about in 94 when Greg Buckner hit a last second shot to beat Henderson Co in the 2nd region title game. They also played each other in the 95 finals. Henderson beat UHA in the 90 region first round, so that also could be the game you are thinking of.

I thought Victor and Barnes played for UHA

They did. Harold Swanagan was on that team as well

1. Mason County 66, Trinity 59, 3OT, 2004 Sweet 16 quarters. Mason County trailed by 6 with less than a minute to play, Casey Pfeffer hit a 3 (everyone forgets that); then Lofton hit another at the buzzer to get into the first OT. Why coaches don't foul when they're up by 3 and everyone in the building knows who's going to take a game-tying shot, I'll never know (but I'm not complaining in this case).

2. Harrison County 92, Maysville 90, 1991 1oth Region final. Maysville High School's final game. Harrison drives the length of the floor (I think it was Jerry Fogle) and wins a thriller.

3. Mason County 84, Lexington Catholic 81, OT, 2003 Fifth Third final game. Again, Lofton hits a 35-footer at the buzzer to send the game into OT; this time with Tubby watching.

4. Mason County 84, Scott County 78, OT, 2004 Sweet 16 semis. Scott County kept fighting back when it looked like Mason County had the game won; like an idiot, I missed the last couple of minutes of the game because I was in line trying to get decent tickets for the final.

5. Montgomery County 99, Mason County 92 - 1995 Region 10 final. Billy Ray Fawns goes for 47 including a couple of clutch long-range bombs; offsetting Shawn Myrick's 44 point effort. 91 points for the top 2 scorers in the game!

Conner's overtime win over St. Henry in the 33rd district semi-final at St. Henry's in 2001.

Thank You B-Ball-fan. I was a member of the St. Henry team who lost on a banked in buzzer beater by Terry Johnson. We truely poured our hearts into that game and just fell short. It was the final game I played in and it hurt even worse losing at home that night. Thanks for aknowledging such a great game.

They have already been mentioned but my favorite game was the 1995 10th Region final between Mason County and Montgomery County. I've seen alot of excellent games at the state tourney, but there is just something about a great game at the fieldhouse and that is one game that I will never forget!

I've probably said it on this board and I know I've said it on others, but there is no better atmosphere than a 10th Regional final game at the Fieldhouse; especially a close game, with 6,200+ going crazy the whole time. Add to that the annual 10th Region hall-of-fame festivities throughout the tourney; the Fieldhouse is the place to be at tourney time.

All three were great games. My favorite was the Lexington Catholic game, the atmosphere in the gym that night was amazing for a regular season game.

Bishop Brossart 43 at Top 10 Pendleton County 45

I will never forget this one:

The gym was completely packed with fans and neither team took the lead by more than 5-6 the whole game. Bishop Brossart had it in there hands at the end, but lost on a Jon Elrod baseline jumper as the buzzer went off. The PC student section and other fans stormed the court. A great HS basketball game.

The 1986 final four in Rupp Arena. Pulaski County beat Owensboro in the first game in O.T. and PRP beat Hazard in the second on some questionable calls in the 4th quarter. Both games went down to the wire and Rupp Arena was packed and extremely loud.
