Wes Caldwell had to share the limelight this past year with Cornell Burbage. If Catholic finds a quarterback and continues to have an offense similar to Sphires' than he will be in the mix. His stats for the past season: 64 receptions, for 1191 yards and 21 TDs. Averaged 18.6 per reception. He's 6' 2" and runs a 4.4 forty. It will be tough for anyone to beat Ammons though in my opinion.

I think Beaumont is a great player and deserves consideration but he may struggle a bit this year because he will not be surrounded with as much talent and will have to carry the load a lot more this year.Teams will be able to key on him more which may hurt production. I hope he ends up at UK or UL because he can play.

Have not seen too many anywhere that can do what Beaumont dioes each week on Offense, Defense AND Special Teams. He made some pretty physical stops on defense this year on many films I got to see in preparing to play Male. As someone else stated, you know he is their main go to guy (usually 2-3 more as well) and he still breaks for big yardage. Victor Anderson is very good in his own right and should provide enough offense to stake a legitimate claim to Mr. Football.

I look for Anderson to do more this on the field..DB..QB..WR RB...this kid should be fun to watch. Beaumont will be the focus point of every defense they play with less talent surrounding him next season. If Justin Green is healthy, that should help Beaumont.

Do not necessarily think Beaumont needs any more help than he already has in that regard. Overall and Williams should pose enough of a threat elsewhere to keep defenses from focusing solely on Beaumont. I also thought the asthma would prevent Anderson from playing alot more than what he does already. Is this not really true? Regardless, Victor only seems to need a few carries per game to bust out a hundred yards so a few extra carries a game should only help. Even knowing Victor will carry the ball, your D has to go through a BIG O-Line to get to him. Just face it, X has all the tools!

But not enough in 2 out of the last 3 years.

How did I know that was coming? ;)

FWIW, at this point, I think the best chance for a Mr. Football from any Jefferson County school is Douglas Beaumont. As much as Anderson is great, Beaumont's contributions are much more important to the success of Male.

JUST MY OPINION! Please don't crucify me! :D

Brent Slusher from Bell will get some mentioning, mainly due to college recruiting. However, not sure if he has a legit shot at winning it while playing the TE position. Playing LB helps him, but I dont think he will get the recognition he deserves at that spot, making it hard for him to win it as a LB.

Curious if there are any other mountain kids that may have a legit shot at the award??? And please..... let this be legit.

I think that the mountain kids are somewhat "geographically challenged" in that they don't get quite as much press.

I totally agree........ just curious if any have a serious shot this season. Who was the last mountain kid to win the award? I think that Justin Haddix of Breathitt Co. in '03 would have won it if it had been any other year. Just so happened he was competitng with Michael Bush of Male.

That was 2002

Yeah...... I was thinking of the year he graduated. My bad.

Gerad Parker holds almost every receiving record in the state other than the one's Montrell Jones holds. They are one/two in almost every category. Gerad was Eastern KY's best shot in awhile other than Mike West who put up 3 straight 2,000 plus seasons. I think Gerad finished number 2 in the voting and don't remember where Mike finished.
