Serious Mr. Football Thread

Who was Mr. Football the year West graduated?

I don't remember the year he graduated. I think it was the 2001 football season but am not positive. I don't think he was as close as Gerad was though.

Gerad Parker holds almost every receiving record in the state other than the one's Montrell Jones holds. They are one/two in almost every category. Gerad was Eastern KY's best shot in awhile other than Mike West who put up 3 straight 2,000 plus seasons. I think Gerad finished number 2 in the voting and don't remember where Mike finished.

Parker and Jones hold most of the career records but not the season or single game records.

Parker - Career Yards

Jones - Career Receptions

Jones - Career TD's

These 3 catagories are the only ones they are one/two in.

Those are the three that matter the most and I think they are 1/2 in each if not close. ;)

You dont think that Haddix had a legit shot. He finished 2nd in the voting as well... and had it not been for Bush he would have won it. I think that the bolded statement is fairly biased.

But besides that...... are there any EKY kids who have a legit shot this year? I cant think of any!

The last EKY players that I know who won the award was Scotty Russell from Evarts and Tim Couch from Leslie.... both way back in the early and mid 90's.

Haddix had already been mentioned. He obviously had a shot. I was talking about guys not named.

I think Clark could be in the mix this year with the showing he put on at the biggest stage of all. He's probably around 4th or 5th preseason I'd say.

Kasey Clark of Russell is a serious contender. IMO the best all-round football player inthe State. As a JR he had 1700 rushing yards. He caught 3 TD's and led the team in recieving. 2 punt returns, 1 Amazing kick off return, 1 fumble recovery, 1 INT return, and 39, yes 39 RUSHING TD's!!!! 44 TD's and as a starter both ways for 2 seasons his teams record is 27-2 with 1 State Championship!! In the State Championship game 35 carries for 196 yards, 3 rushing TD's, 1 rec for 11 yards, 1 TD!!! 207 yards of toal offense and 24 points!!!

I agree with Blue Blazer. Kasey should be a serious contender next year. He will be a Senior. If we can get the focus off NK and look at the whole state I don't see how they can not take a close look at Kasey. Go Devils

I really like Clark as a football player, and numbers have to be considered when determining Mr. Football.

CONSIDERED being the key word, because numbers can't supercede all other things.

My point is that there are a whole lot of other players who would have similar numbers if they played in that part of the state, particularly at Russell High School in Russell's district/region.

Your right those 4 carries for 104 yards and 2 TD's against West Carter. My point is that Coach McGlone don't pad stats and the #'s in the State Championship game or even the playoffs speak for themselves!! That is against TOP COMPETITION. ( Henry Co., Mercer Co., Newport, Belfry, and Owensboro Catholic)

I think that the Minnifield kid at henry clay has a good chance at making a good run for Mr. football next year.

What about the kid from Scott Co. Haddix 6ft.3 played w/r d/b a big time d-1 player

Kasey Clark has to be one to mention. He can do it all. Offense, defense, special teams, he can do it all. Hard running back

Nice point Blazer, Russell's district is no sloutch either. Considering the fact that Kasey only played until halftime on most night, until the 2nd round of the playoffs, his numbers look pretty good. McGlone has class and is not going to run the score up just so his backs can get their numbers up, he just won't do it.

Shane Boyd who signed with UK was 2nd, Josh Jaggers who also signed with UK was 3rd.

Should Mr.Football be based on 2006 season or should career have something to do with it.
