I'm more worried Homer isn't "no hit" Homer. More like one hit wonder Homer. I've never been a fan. I hope and pray I'm terribly wrong. Sure it's one outing, I get that. But it's more than that for me. Something about him doesn't strike me as 18 game winner. Again, hope I'm wrong. Is he a solid 3rd guy in the rotation? Well, I sure hope so. WBP is what he is, never surprised to see him donate a 6 spot in an inning. Leake, well, he leaks. And the top 2 in the rotation are cash money. This season, and any others to come, will boil down to pitching. Reds led the league year after year in the Griffey/Donkey era in runs scored and sucked it up because they seldom got anyone out. Pitching wins games. Franc needs to channel his inner Votto and fight off the temptation to throw the offense under the bus.

 

As for Choo, I know his Reds sample size is miniscule, but his Indian one is not, and I would love to see Choo in the OF for a few seasons because he is a professional hitter. Votto has boyfriend trouble or something right now, and when that passes he's a .350 guy. The last thing I'd worry about is Votto. Hanigan is never gonna hit, if he does, it's a bonus. Cozart needs to play the glove and mix one in every now and again.

Some people just aren't conditioned to watch and understand baseball. They don't realize its a 162 game season and overreact to every loss like they are out of playoff contention. Baseball is a game of ebbs and flows. Let it play out for another month, then you could see a trend and then judge and panic, which is what us Cincy fans are best at. What's stupid about it? The plan from the start was to get a lead off hitter for a year while Hamilton develops. So you want to trade him at the trade deadline so we get something for him and don't have a lead off hitter for the playoffs?

Just as a side note the Giants as World Series Champions had a .219 and a .248 hitter in their starting lineup.

 

Plus it is wayyyy too early to look at how hitters are statistically as the Reds have played 3 top notch teams.
