Science Friction
My first game was August 20, 1971 . Reds hosted the Bucs at Riverfront and the good guys won 6-0 behind Grimsley, I believe. I think he went the distance. I know Perez went" yard" and I believe "The Big Bopper" did as well. I remember Bruce Kison pitching for the Bucs. It was a magical day for a 9-year old Red's fan. spindoc
I got a Johnny Bench miniature bat and a Joe Morgan tshirt. I couldn't tell you who they played, or what the score was, but my grandmother got a sunburn for the ages. Good times.
LRCW
Welcome to BGP Science Friction. We had a similar thread not to long. It dealt with 1st ML game, not just 1st Reds game, but I thought you might want to read thru it as well. http://bluegrasspreps.com/major-league-baseball/your-first-ever-252128.html

plantmanky
All I remember is I dumped my helmet Ice cream in my lap, my hot dog squired mustard all over me and I thought I was going to fly out of my seat and die at Riverfront every time the wind blew in the upper deck. Science Friction
BTW, another little tidbit from my first Reds' game over four decades ago was that John McSherry umpired it. Yes, my first game ever as well as his last game was worked in Cincinnati. Good umpire.
2 Humped Camel
My mom took me to see the Dodgers in the blue seats, she worked for Cincinnati Bell back in the day and got 2 of their corporate tickets. I don't remember how the game turned out but I do remember it was a day game and I really enjoyed the ice cream in the mini reds helmet.

mcpapa
First Reds game was a lot later (1988) than my first Orioles game (1964). Sat in the little corner of blue seats in right field; got there just as Reds were finishing shagging flies. My son - just about to turn 8 years old - was with us. I asked Danny Jackson if he would toss us a ball for him and he did. That little gesture set my son on a (so far, anyway) lifetime journey as a baseball fan. oldrambler
My first Reds game was at Crosley Field. I went to the ball park on a train, left from Ashland, KY and I was around 4 or 5 years old (1961 or 62). My dad got the tickets at the train station on a Reds game/train trip package. The train station in Cincy was right next to Crosley Field.

statman
I don't remember what year it was, but I had Straight "A" Tickets to an Astros game and my uncle went with me. Our seats were in Center Field closest to the field in Riverfront Stadium. Cesar Cedeno was their CF and I yelled down and screamed, "Hey Cedeno!!" and he looked up to see who it was. I was probably 11 or 12 I guess, it was pretty cool.
