Best Zombie movie ever?

Featured Replies

I have never seen a Zombie movie or show I liked ... including Walking Dead.

I'm with you. I don't understand the attraction of the whole Zombie thing. They're horrible movies.

I feel the same way about the vampire love story movies of recent years.

I don't think it was a remake of The Omega Man. Both are based on the same book, I Am Legend. Omega Man was changed from the book more I believe.

There was also an movie that Vincent Price did on the book in the late 50's:

I thought the Omega Man and I Am Legend movies were both pretty solid.

You're welcome. Thank you for the information about WWZ. Um, I don't want to be a spoiler for book readers or moviegoers, so I'm not going to comment any more until I've seen it.

Back to the original Night of the Living Dead, does anyone else think the ending is one of the most ironic of film history?

That was Romero's intent. It was 1968 and he was making some pretty heady statements about things on society and on taboos.

(i.e. hero and heroine die and are eaten by the zombies. lady gets eaten by her brother. mother killed by her daughter. Hero survives only to be done in by assumption and perhaps a little bigotry)

Shaun of the Dead is my favorite

Beat me to it.

I like the Dawn of the Dead remake.

As Remakes go, it was good Horror/Zombie fun.

Lacked the social commentary of the original I thought.

Especially this. That guy endured that entire hellish night, plus whatever his backstory was before he got to the farmhouse, just to be shot as soon as he walked outside the next morning.

I like the Dawn of the Dead remake.

The first five minutes of that, including the Johnny-Cash-fueled title sequence might be the best five minutes of zombie movie ever made. Just unreal.

....I can't recall what it was. Care to enlighten me?

Hah. Just realized I quoted the wrong person.

That was supposed to refer to Zombieland.

He actually only gets to the window if I remember right. It was a shocker the first time I ever saw the flick.

Ever seen The Mist?

Yes, I have; plus I read the novella. But I guess I don't remember the ending. Please enlighten me here or PM me.
