April 9, 201313 yr My personal favorites are Romero's Night of the Living Dead and 28 Days Later; I'm definitely looking forward to World War Z.
April 9, 201313 yr Night of the Living Dead, b/w version. :thumb:Definitely my favorite. I'm looking forward to, but also kind of worried about World War Z... I loved the book, but it's so long and involved I'm not sure how it's going to play out on film. Has anyone else read the preceding book by Max Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide? Totally different genre, but I enjoyed it as well. Edited April 9, 201313 yr by shamrock fan punctuation

Has anyone else read the preceding book by Max Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide? Totally different genre, but I enjoyed it as well. They've spent a boatload on WWZ. I'm hoping it's quality stuff. Haven't read either book, but just bought WWZ the other day. I know The Zombie Survival Guide precedes it, but is it necessary to read that prior to WWZ?
April 9, 201313 yr Some of my favorites.... Dawn of the Dead (remake) Zombieland Others I've enjoyed... Land of the Dead Doomsday Sadly I've never seen more then about 10 minutes of 28 Days Later. Definitely have to change that.
April 9, 201313 yr ^ I've not seen 28 Days Later either. Going to have to change that soon. Awww man....it's SO good. I watched it in the middle of the afternoon with sun streaming in the windows and was still creeped out for pretty much all of it.

I know The Zombie Survival Guide precedes it, but is it necessary to read that prior to WWZ? Definitely not necessary. The Zombie Survival Guide is a satirical how-to manual. I bought it from the Humor section of B&N. I enjoyed it, but it's a slow read, due to the vast amount of details and technical information. Knowing I had read it, when World War Z was published, my son bought it for me as a gift. I love World War Z, but I was really surprised at the difference in direction Max Brooks had taken with the two books.
April 9, 201313 yr They've spent a boatload on WWZ. I'm hoping it's quality stuff. I hope it's good. As to that, I know Brad Pitt is attached to this film as an actor. Does anyone know which character he is playing? Is he the journalist/narrator? Or one of the other characters? As I said, I'm curious about how this book is going to be adapted.
April 9, 201313 yr "28 Days" was brutal to watch, in a good way. It wore me out how aggressive the zombies were, very good flick. I agree, that movie was intense. It was a good film. Not only have I not seen The Omega Man; I've never even heard of it! I'll have to look it up.
April 9, 201313 yr I am Legend is a remake of The Omega Man. Some might not consider it a zombie movie but more of a mutant/vampire type movie. The characters are not dead though

From Wikipedia: Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a U.N. employee who scours the world, interviewing survivors of the zombie apocalypse, referred to as World War Z.[3] Mireille Enos as Karin, Lane's wife and mother of their two children.[4] James Badge Dale as Captain Speke, an American soldier who "tries to warn the government that the threat of zombies is real."[5] Lucy Aharish as a young Palestinian woman.[6] Julia Levy-Boeken[7] Matthew Fox[7] Elyes Gabel as Fassbach[8] Bryan Cranston[9] David Morse as a prisoner living in an abandoned jail.[10] Abigail Hargrove as Rachel Lane.[11]

I was flipping through TZSG at Joseph Beth & thought that it had a lot of satire. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a necessary read prior to WWZ. Thanks. :thumb:

Thank you for the information about WWZ. Um, I don't want to be a spoiler for book readers or moviegoers, so I'm not going to comment any more until I've seen it. Back to the original Night of the Living Dead, does anyone else think the ending is one of the most ironic of film history?
April 9, 201313 yr I am Legend is a remake of The Omega Man. Some might not consider it a zombie movie but more of a mutant/vampire type movie. The characters are not dead though I don't think it was a remake of The Omega Man. Both are based on the same book, I Am Legend. Omega Man was changed from the book more I believe.
