April 8, 201313 yr If either ball that Choo misplayed were even remotely difficult, I would say those "Choo will be a defensive liability" people would have a valid point. As it is, those were just brainfarts on his part. Both were routine balls for anyone at any position and he just screwed up.
April 8, 201313 yr Author Im here, I leave the office, drive home turn on the game and the bats light up like the sale of beer in st. Louis tonight. Im not sure if the Reds won it or the Cards lost it but it don't matter. Anybody think Hannigan is just tired, Mes has only played what one game?

Im with you UMF, I think he just needs to get used to the national league parks and backing up as a center fielder, give him some time hes fine.
April 9, 201313 yr That was just a weird, weird game. The Reds should have had the lead going into the ninth anyway if not for the gaffes by Choo and Heisey but it was a great comeback nonetheless. I'm not so sure the Choo's defense won't be a recurring problem. Both misplays tonight as well as the one on opening day were on balls hit directly over his head. You get very few balls hit like that in left or right--they usually tail one way or the other which allows you to catch them while running at at least some kind of angle. He's going to have to learn to go straight back--in order to do that correctly you have to get a good read off of the bat. He also had a ball hit at him in shallow center that he initially broke towards rightfield and then came back about 15 feet towards center. It hung up long enough that it wasn't that close but it looks like he is having a difficult time picking up the trajectory of the ball off of the bat.
April 9, 201313 yr Nice move by Dusty pinch hitting Paul for Cozart in that situation. Paid off, I liked the move even if Paul didn't get the hit.
April 9, 201313 yr So does anyone know what had BP so fired up after he hit his dinger? Dude was HOT when he got into the dugout. He didn't smile for the rest of the night either.
