Gay marriage?.......might as well legalize polygamy

Featured Replies

^ It is legal for first cousins to marry in almost as many states as not.

And they all hang out at Walmart on the 1st of each month. :lol2::lol2:

:sssh: In West Virginia.

Soon it will be brothers, sisters, fathers and daughters, heck, fathers and sons.

Maysville must have been recently annexed.

Random thoughts on this post which I consider silly but:

1) Is incest a sin? If so, all those early folks in the bible obviously practiced it, correct?

2) There are real biological problems that can be directly traced to inbreeding that are not associated with same sex or plural relationships so I can see a difference there why it can not be made legal.

3) In beastiality there obviously can be no consent from one of the parties so I also see a difference there where it can never be made legal.

I disagree with #3. Consent can be a dog wagging his/her tail or tongue sticking out and licking. A cat rubbing against your leg. A donkey yelling hee haww.

Hey, leave LRCW out of it.

Will the post still be considered silly when a lawmaker proposes that cousins to whatever degree removed are ok? Then, 1/2 siblings? Do you not agree that the slope continues to get steeper and more slippery?

I tend to lean towards BGC's way of thinking with regard to marriage.

Yes.

If a man is dumb enough to have more than one legal wife, he calls down his own sentence. Have at it!

Haha! My husband says the same thing!

On a more serious note, I cannot believe some of the other things I have read. Comparing gay marriages to incest and beastiality? To use a worn out word, REALLY? As mama used to say, "apples and oranges."

:lol2: Meant to say needed.

I would like this a thousand times if I could. I'm all for same sex marriages let them in on the pain and suffering marriage causes. I'm glad my wife doesn't know bgp exists.

My wife probably has a better chance for getting another mate than me!

Might as well make incest legal too, along with beastiality. I mean a sin is a sin, if they legalize one sin, might as well open up the gates of hades and make America the new Sodom and Gomorrah.

Should sins be illegal? I don't think so.

I believe a fundamental principal of religion is free will. A person chooses to follow his or her religious beliefs and to abide by his or her religion's teachings.

When Christians use the threat of law to get people to follow Christian beliefs, aren't they taking free will out of the whole process? If I disagree in my heart and mind 100% with Christian beliefs, but comply with Christian teachings only because I don't want to go to jail, am I saved? Will I get into Heaven? I don't think so.

My view on this issue is similar to govt legislation attempting to regulate how I live my life: namely, educate but don't legislate. I think, for example, the NY city govt should educate people on the harm of drinking huge quantities of sugary softdrinks. Ban them? No way. I've got zero problem with Christian leaders preaching and advocating their interpretation of the Bible. They should not attempt to turn those interpretations in civil law in my opinion. If people choose using their free will choose not to sin, I believe God will judge them favorably. I do not believe God will look down favorably on those that don't sin only because sinning is a civil crime.

As a young Marine officer years ago, I was told by a grizzled old Master Sergeant: Lt, you can force your enlisted to comply with your orders. It's the law because of your rank. But if you truly want to lead them, you'll have to convince them, by your actions and leadership, to follow you. If you can do that, then and only then, will you be a Marine Officer.

If religious leaders want people to truly follow God and not sin, it won't be because sins are illegal. It will be because those religious leaders have educated people on how they can voluntarily follow Christianity's teachings.

And to the point of polygamy: I'm not interested in the concept. No thanks. But I do not think it should be a crime.
