March 29, 201313 yr Outside of this year, the Big East has four more teams than any other conference so they should be leading. (B1G still has 3 teams left this year also) I still come back to... only one title since the "Super Conference" was formed. That is shockingly low. No it isn't. It is the result of an actual tournament deciding the champion, not a coronation like in football. Double the Final 4 teams of any conference since 2009. DOUBLE...

There's been no conference domination in the NCAA tourney for quite some time. A 64 or 68 team tourney, will do that. This isn't football, where it's a battle of 1 vs. 2 every year in a one game title game, with super conference winners nearly guaranteed a spot every year.
March 29, 201313 yr No it isn't. It is the result of an actual tournament deciding the champion, not a coronation like in football. Double the Final 4 teams of any conference since 2009. DOUBLE... Earlier in the thread you said the conference was dead but NOW you want back in? :lol2: It could be argued that it is harder to win in football, one slip up and you are out. The Final Four isn't set this year yet so let's wait to see if it is DOUBLE. Impressive, and certainly proves depth, why can't they win it all though? In reality, Louisville is really the only team that you can trust this year.

Last I checked Louisville and UC were in the conference in 2009, and they were in it this season. 2. I'm pretty sure if you have "one slip up" in the NCAA tournament, you go home. 3. It's already double. Either Marquette or Cuse are going (six), and if Louisville were to make it, that's seven.

The Big East has the most teams which means the most bids which means the most final fours and you would think titles would follow in that sentence wouldn't you? I certainly will miss this conference and most years it definitely was the best (Big 10 this year). However, I do think that it was typically over exaggerated just how great it was.

He didn't want to argue earlier when the Big Least was doing poorly but after success is ready to talk about it. Just a friendly shot. Right, one slip up and you go home, how is that different from football? Right but what I'm saying is the Big 10 still has three teams left, any one of them making it and it wouldn't be double anymore.
March 29, 201313 yr It could be argued that it is harder to win in football, one slip up and you are out. SIX of the nine SEC teams to win the BCS title lost a game along the way. This statement is patently false...

Even when you get it down to four teams, it's much, much harder to win, even if you're the best team. I think the best example of this is MLB. Look how dominant old teams were with their runs. Then, even with divisional play beginning in the 1969 season, it' almost impossible to have a run with a dynasty. Look at how great the Braves were all those years, and only one title. Now with even more expanded playoffs, it won't happen again.

The Big East is dead and it died the night the conference tournament ended. NCAA Tournament shares are not going to the conference, so it is what it is at this point. But since the talking heads have to label the three teams left as belonging to someone, go Cuse, Marquette and Louisville...
