We cynics were wrong.

As I said before, IF true, this is one of the worst crimes in American history...well it looks like it MAY be true.

"A boy approached me and told me he wanted my money, and I told him I didn't have any money," she said. "And he said, 'Give me your money or I'm going to kill you and I'm going to shoot your baby and kill your baby,' and I said, "I don't have any money and don't kill my baby."

 

The boy tried to grab her purse and opened fire when she said tried to tell him she had no money, West said, grazing her head. She said the boy then shot her in the leg.

 

She continued, "And then, all of a sudden, he walked over and he shot my baby in the face."

 

West said she tried to perform CPR on her son and that the police took over when they arrived, but to no avail. "We lost him," she said.

 

During the incident, the smaller of the two boys was hiding behind the larger one, she said. "I don't know whether it was his brother or a friend."

My father, who lives in Jacksonville, just called and told me about this. I'm glad that the cynic in me was wrong.

An additional thought. One of the arrested was 17 the other 14. Both should be tried as adults and if they did indeed kill a baby in cold blood need to face the full punishment prescribed by law.

Was thinking the same thing when I read the article. That paints a very different picture.

I was terribly wrong. How do you shoot a baby?

According to my father the animals shot the baby in the face!. That horrifies me. I'm a crusty old geezer and I can't help but smile when I see a baby. How anyone could intentionally do anything to harm a baby is totally beyond me. It just proves to me that evil does exist in the world. If ever there was a case to me made for public and painful execution here it is.

 

To the mother, even though I know she will likely never read this. I am sorry for your loss and for my doubt about your horrific story.

Plus the interview I saw they said they thought the boys were 13 and 10 not 17 and 14. Big difference. Based on the info that was first given it was hard not to be cynical.
