Huge win for Coach Woods. Congrats Wayne Co.

 

 

Dang, Congrats to great careers for the 3 headed-monster at Pulaski Co (Johnson,Gover, and Goins). I cant believe that group never made it to Rupp.

Rodney Woods in a one and done is just dangerous. Still proving why he's one of the best coaches in the state.

Pulaski County still without a region title since 1992.

Wow.. I had Pulaski winning this region.

I would have liked to seen Pulaski County win the region and I picked them as well but this isn't a surprise. Next up for Wayne County...likely West Jessamine.

Kody Johnson played his heart out tonight with 28 points.

 

Pulaski was up two with 50 seconds and shooting FT's, missed them both! Wayne comes down and nails the 3 to take the lead and eventual win!

 

Gover had a nice look at a 3 to tie at the buzzer but rimmed out! It's tough to see it end like that! Got to feel for the kids!

 

Props to Wayne Co and Coach Woods. Hung in there all night and pulled it out! Woods is one heck of a coach!

Tough for Coach Gover and his seniors. I feel for them.

 

At the start of this year I would not have figured that Wayne County would be this good. With one senior, one junior, one sophomore and two frosh in their lineup you have to think they lack the necessary experience, but they keep digging hard. It will be interesting to see how far they can make it.

 

They'll be playing West Jessamine next and Fain will be giving his team a full 32 minutes (last time when WC beat them, he started on the bench and gave no effort the first half, but then scored 16 the second half).

 

Personally I'd love for Southwestern and Wayne to meet in the finals and play for the fourth time this season. That'd be a heck of a matchup in many ways, but there are four more games to be played between now and then and could be neither will make it to the finals (but I wouldn't bet against it).

Sounds like it was a great game. It wouldn't have suprised me to see either team win this one. As even as the 12th is this season I don't know that you could call any game an upset in this tourney.

 

As great as their careers were as far as overall numbers it has to sting a bit that not only did the Maroons "Big Three" not make it to Rupp, they never even got to a Regional Final.

Tough loss for the Maroons.

Southwestern will make a return trip to Rupp...IMO.
