Ky High Schoolers with Super Bowl Rings

Featured Replies

Mark Pike Dixie/Buffalo Bills

Billy Lyons LLoyd/Green Bay Packers

There was another great running back from Dixie from the 60's that played for the San Fran 49 ers I thought he also won a super bowl.

The Dixie RB you are refering to was Larry Schieber. He did spend some time with the 49ers but was out of the league by the time they won their first.

Won one with the Colts.

Hey Pete W..."While Unitas played for U of L he was from Pennsylvania and he never played in a Super Bowl."...

Johnny Unitas DID play in a super bowl...do you remember Broadway Joe leading the New York Jets over the Colts...and then in Super Bowl V, Mr. Unitas and his Baltimore Colts BEAT the Dallas Cowboys...

While Unitas played for U of L he was from Pennsylvania and he never played in a Super Bowl.

George Blanda from UK was on the Raiders team that lost to the Packers in Super Bowl II but he was also from Pennsylvania.

Played in 2 super bowls. Came off the bench for the Colts against the Jets (he had an injured shoulder at the time) after Earl Morrall threw several interceptions. Johnny U was the winning QB against Dallas with the Colts.

What made you think Jonny U never played in a Super Bowl??

I looked it up on the Pro Football Hall of Fame website and somehow missed his name, now that I rechecked I see he played in 2.

I blew that one.

shaun will get one Feb. 5th. Against "Bill COWARD'S Pittsburgh CHEATERS, Taking out Quarterbacks one knee at a time."

Did Roger Byrd win one with the Raiders?

I wouldn't count on that just yet! That has happened the last two weeks and look at what has happened in the end! Seatle may be riding a big wave into this but the Steelers are riding a Tsunami! Should be a tough one!

Here's some info passed along to me from one of Manual's "Old Goats" - David Wright:

Steve Wright of Manual '60 has some rings. State Champion at Manual.

National Champion at Alabama. NFL and Super Bowl Championships with Green

Bay.

Sherman Lewis was with the Jets for Super Bowl III. He was also an assistant

with the 49ers in the eighties and the Offensive Coordinator for the Packers

when they won in '96.

While Unitas played for U of L he was from Pennsylvania and he never played in a Super Bowl.
He played in two Super Bowls, III against the Jets and well I can't remember which one it was but when the Colts defeated the Cowboys on a last second field goal. So, he played in two Super Bowls.

Sorry Pete W, I see you found out he did play in a Super Bowl, my bad.

Will Wolford and Cardwell Gardner missed out on a few.

I believe Jeff Brohm got one when he was with Denver.

Didn't Carwell get one with Buffalo???

Runner-up? :D

Thanks Mr. Hssb....couldn't remember.
