Winner of 38th District to host 10th Region boys tournament?

Featured Replies

Largest one night attendance in the last 4 years is 1101. Next largest was 1001. If you even add another 300 on pass list that's still below PC's capacity...nobody turned away. Nobody watching on a screen.

Is that paid attendance? I would bet there was more than that when the PC kid hit the shot to beat HC.

  • For boys, the last time Harrison County hosted the 10th Region tournament was in 1964. I don't know about hosting the girls tournament.   FWIW, Harrison County was a steady host of regionals durin

That was the night. 1101 was paid, plus 300-350 in passes. That's still under capacity.

Fire Marshall Bill?

Lemme show you somethin.

Just so I understand. These attendance figures in the 1,100 range - were they for recent district or regional tournament games?

That was the biggest 38th district attendance from the last 4 years. No way it's big enough to hold the region...ever.

We are discussing two different things here.

A) The 38th District has obviously voted to rotate their DISTRICT tournament through each of their four schools over the next four years. Terrffic!!! No problem from anyone there.

B) Kendall proposes that the 38th District, when it is there turn to host the 10th Region Tournament (next year) that they physically host the regional tournament at one of the schools within the 38th District. That would be interesting. Many of old schoolers think the regional tournament should be held on an annual basis at the Fieldhou$e for a lot of good reasons. That all changed when Montgomery County built thier new facility and when the Bank of Kentucky Center came along.

I would hope that the schools of the 38th District would do the right thing and vote to play it at the Fieldhouse when their turn rolls around, BUT should they choose to do otherwise, I guess that is their prerogative.

Yes. I'm all for "A", and gave evidence why that will work.

I'm not for "B". That same evidence tells you why.

Let me be clear, I am NOT proposing that any of the schools in the 38th District should host the 10th Region Boys Tournament. Simply stating that the schools of the 38th COULD choose to have the Tourney played wherever they want. Irregardless of the numbers posted regarding capacities and recent 38th District attendance figures, I cannot fathom the largest crowds at Harrison County fitting into PCs gym. Perhaps it's a good thing that the 38th District is looking less at revenue and more at eliminating a competitive advantage of having the same team host all the time. Maybe that would be a good thing for the Regional Tournament as well. Raise ticket prices for those smaller capacities to offset the revenue generated by larger crowds.

I believe postseason ticket prices are set by the KHSAA.

True, I think the most that would be considered would be the Fieldhouse, Montgomery Co, BOK Center or one of thier gyms.

I misread the post.

I'm all for each of the 4 school hosting the 38th district tournament when it's their turn.

I'll all against the 10th region tournament ever being hosted at a 38th district school.

Ok I have re read the original post twice now and what I am getting from that is the following:

1. They are rotating the district......Makes sense everybody does that.

2. They want to have the champion of the 38th district host the regional in the year that it is the 38th's turn. Well first nobody's seating is enough and secondly is that even allowed? Can you wait until the district tournament crowns a champion and THEN say where the regional is being held? I really do not see that as even being allowed by the KHSAA much less the rest of the 10th region. I could be not understanding the original post but that is how I am reading it.

Unless you go by the old "Field of Dreams" adage - if you build it, they will come.

And like I've said on here before; when I win the lottery one of the first things I'm going to do is build a gym in the geographical center of the 10th region and the regional tournament will be held there every year!
