Not seen Smith play. Did he play AAU? I like to think I've seen most of the state's top talent play in HS or AAU and can't recall this kid. No reason for me to back track from my Sampson/Morgan/Marshall top 3.

That I couldn't tell you NKY, not sure what he did over the summer. Smith isn't a kid who will necessarily dazzle you at any one time during a game, he's really not that kind of player. But when you look at the box score the next day, you see he had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and maybe a steal or 2. He's also far more athletic than his apperance leads you to believe. I haven't seen all the teams and best players in the 8th region either, so I can't make a defenitive argument for Smith other than he has to be in the discussion. Saw Levitch (sp?) for Oldham last year who I think someone mentioned in this thread. Smith is the better player between those two in my opinion. Saw Marshall when Collins played Anderson at Anderson a few weeks ago...Marshall did nothing that game to solidify his argument for POY, and Smith may very well have been the best player on the floor that night for the winning team. I'm not sure what a kid has to do to get mentioned, but in my opinion Smith has done it.

I said the same thing earlier in this thread. No way this should be a discussion without Smith being listed. There isn't a more complete player in the 8th region...

I still can't decide between Campbell and Bolden in the 9th. Lean slightly towards Campbell.

FYI...Dez Marshall has been named 8th Region POY.

Hard to argue that Drew McDonald didn't have a better year than Antonio. Hatton get punished for playing on an average team or something worse? Mike Bueter was amazing this year.

You mentioned 3 very nice players but I would give the nod to Campbell. Nobody changes a game like he does. Threes, scoring from in the paint, blocked shots, etc. cream of the crop. McDonald can score from inside, Bueter is a born leader but not to be considered in the mix. Hatton has a pure scorer and smart player. He would be one to consider, but to say he was not selected over Campbell (assuming the selection is official) because he plays on a average team? Have you seen Holy Cross play this year?

Add in best post moves. Best outlet passing. Best shot blocker.

You at least sound reasonable arguing for Hatton. I do love his game. And I do agree some folks just don't care for him. I mentioned how smart he is. He is going D1, great player but not the game changer of Campbell.

Hatton hands down, best player in ninth...Campbell is a senior, he'll get it. Hatton will get it next year, Bolden year after. : )
