  • Folks, Chuck Smith is simply a football coach. If he really were a God he would come to my house and slam my face into the keyboard4t9y856-ghv9uvh45h4EFBofijeovnv09245h=11r78f3bvu349-21179g=--gfB9EW9

Chuck Smith made mountain ref relax... Maybe Chuck Smith can't even do that.

Seriously, though - there are two points I have to make about Chuck Smith:

1) I don't know how fun you are, mountain ref, but Chuck Smith is a really great guy to be around.

2) Saying Chuck Smith couldn't cut it in the college coaching ranks is ridiculous. He produced a string of All-SEC linebackers at UK. More impressively, he consistently developed players at that position. As far as the Lamar Dawson recruitment -- the only reason UK even got a foot in the door is because of Chuck Smith. Once he got that foot in, Joker badly botched the recruitment and Dawson absolutely did not like Rick Minter.

Absolutely well said. Chuck Smith is the ONLY reason UK had a chacne with Lamar Dawson.

He probably thinks about that as much as he thinks about hearing from you about how he can't coach with the big boys.

I agree. But if the new coach thought he was good, then he should have kept him, I mean why not, a great in state coach who knows most of the coaches and knows where the talent is in Ky.

He did have some good LBs at UK, so why didnt the new coach keep him? If chuck Smith had all of teh connections to Ky, why not keep a guy like that. I always did think he did a good job at UK, especially with what he had to work with. So why was he not kept as a something coach.

Because if I am a HC with my background as a DC and I am coming into a struggling I don't want to have to coach my coaches. I want to bring in guys that I have worked with and know. I want guys that know my scheme and how to teach it.

Not to be a smart alec but that isnt true. He just hired a guy to coach the DL who he never coached with, not to mention a few others he hired that he has never coached with. He has to teach those guys the same as he would Smith.

The guy he hired for the DL will not be coaching the whole DL but just the DTs I think. I think the DC will be coaching the LBs. Most of the guys on offense are Franklin/System guys or have worked in that area so that is one thing. Just because he had not coached maybe with some of the guys does not equal to not knowing them. He more than likely knew them all in some form before.

Reminds me of my favorite all-time commercial--a beer commercial--when a couple of really big, muscle-bound guys are fishing without poles. They just scream, "Hey fish! Get in the boat" and the fish obey.

Speaking of commercials...
