Ray Lewis Legacy

Featured Replies

So whats the difference between what Ray does and what Chad did for the camera?

Ray has a SB ring. So, he's given more leeway.

But yet you fans in Cincy loved Chad in the beginning with all his camera shows, how is it any different than Ray?

Don't pick on a man just cause of the jersey he wears.

Great thread.

Ray Lewis is one of the best linebackers ever. No question.

I can't stand him. I think he plays to the camera and I think he is a phony. His professed faith in God does not seem genuine to me like it does with Tebow. I believe Tebow when he speaks about his faith. Ray Lewis may be as equally devout as Tebow but I don't believe him. As someone on twitter said....Ray is like that grandma who gets the Holy Ghost in church every Sunday and passes out.

He's always crying and whatnot. He speaks in tones all dramatic and stuff. Drives me nuts. Like he ain't at the strip club with PacMan making it rain.

Ray is a good example of people turning a blind eye to your personal life if you win or succeed. It's that simple. Ryan Leaf gets hammered but if he managed to put together a successful NFL career most people would forget his failures in life.

These next two weeks between Ray Lewis and The Harbowl will be insufferable.

I've never agreed more with one of your posts than I do with this one. Nothing much I can add to the thread that you didn't already say here.

I'm not. I'm picking on him because he's phony as fake crap.

I honestly don't know what to think of the man. Public perception says one thing (murderer) while the people that actually know him say something quite different (great man who leaves a positive impact on anyone he touches). I find it difficult to judge this man, and I have no place to. I truly have never felt so conflicted on a sports figure.

I agree. We also don't know the man's personal relationship with God. We also don't truly know such about Tebow. As a result, I'll judge them only as NFL football players.

It's been a while since one like Ray Lewis has come along that creates such a divide.

Regardless of who he actually is, I have to say that I love listening to Ray Lewis speak. Even if it's just for show, even if he doesn't mean a word of it, Lewis is a well versed man. Holds my attention every time he opens his mouth.

We must be growing on each other.

You aren't alone and that probably fascinates me more than anything else.

When comparing Ray to the subject of another thread, Stan Musial...you quickly realize how far we've fallen. One has six children with four different women, while the other one was married to the same woman for over 71 years.

Stan Musial - great player and an even better person

Ray Lewis - great player and a much worse person (phony as a $3 bill)

We must be growing on each other.

We're not so different, you and I. (In my best Dr. Evil voice)

I don't think this is anything confined to the Cincy area.
Believe me, it's not.

You do not have to be a Hall of Fame person to be a Hall of Fame football player. We all acknowledge that. This is why we have to be cautious with the type of praise we heap on athletes. For every Stan Musial, there is a Ty Cobb. I will miss watching Ray on Sundays. That is where my praise for him ends. It is that way, for me, with most athletes.

Ravens owner, Steve Bisciotti and Ray Lewis.
