Forgive me if this has been posted already, but I've been traveling the last couple of days and don't have the patience to read all 25 pages of posts.

 

Two people in the world that don't know what it feels like to be touched by Manti Te'o? His girlfriend and Eddie Lacy!

Teo seems like he's in a no one situation and won't be able to get out of the hole that he dug for himself. Really doesn't matter what he says, like in the statement HS originally released. Be real tough to change my mind that he wasn't involved in the hoax.

I am amazed at the amount of articles just on Yahoo! News about this situation. I lost count. There is certainly a feeding frenzy to find every possible angle from every possible source. The funniest one I saw was how we can avoid getting "hoaxed" ourselves! Duh!

That's interesting but at this point I want to hear from him really. He is gonna have to talk about it at some point, he needs to get it over with.

Moral of the story: Online girlfriends are a hassle. Mail-order is so much simpler.

It's possible Manti lied to his parents.

 

Te'o has, at the very least, lied about this for a period of time. At worst he knew about it for the entire time.

 

Eh, I could see that. He tells his parents one thing and they tell the media that but Te'o forgets what he said about where they met and thus tells the media something different. Regardless, Te'o needs to come and apologize for something because he is obviously lieing about several things concerning this entire fiasco. Whether or not he was truly duped is still in question. I could see where he might not have felt comfortable about telling people that he had a girlfriend that he had never met except on the internet and thus this was perpetuated into what it is now. Still lies are lies and he needs to come out and clear everything up as much as he can.

 

I just read an article pointing out this. According to ND's AD, Te'o received a call on December 6th from "Lennay" claiming she's not really dead. At this point he must know it's a hoax (if he's even telling the truth anyways).

 

On December 8th, he mentions his girlfriends passing in an interview.

 

This is why I think he knew it was a hoax long ago. It was still too late to turn back. I think he knew it was a hoax from the very beginning. He either was duped initially or he helped plan it. Either way, he knew what was up by the Michigan State game. That's when the inconsistent stories started.

 

If he's not gay.

I'm trying to figure out where you guys are coming up with this idea that "he may not have known." Did he not say they met three years ago, in person? Did he not say they got together several times in Hawaii?

 

With that in mind, I see no circumstance under which he did not know, and by extension I see no other scenario in which it wasn't a hoax propagated by Teo from the start, with help from his alleged BF.

 

And more and more, the whole brilliant "trifecta" statement that someone posted earlier -- sorry, too many posts to sift through, but I give credit to whomever that was -- of being in the macho world of CFB, the hardcore Catholic world of NDU and the Mormon world, all very anti-gay, makes far more sense to come up with a cover story than to actually admit you're queer. If he could have kept it up until past April, it would have all worked out. Well, for Teo, anyway, as he would have an NFL check in the bank. He still will, but it will be much smaller and much less of the money guaranteed.

What I was trying to say is that if this supposed "relationship" was only limited to online, then I could see where he may have perpetuated a lie where he said they met in person, etc. because who is going to readily admit that they have never met the person yet they are in a relationship with one another? Thats about the only area I see where he may of actually been duped and thus is a victim to a degree.... but that still doesn't mean that he shouldn't be held accountable for a lot of the other lies he has told to make this as big a story as it was during his Heisman campaign.

 

I think the guy is personally involved in the hoax but at this point it is very unlikely we are to know the truth unless other facts start to come forward.

I agree 100%! One of three things happened:

1) He made up the story to help him win the Heisman.

2) He make up the story to hide something.

3) Both 1 and 2.

 

Until he comes clean and there is proof he is now telling the truth, then the only explaination is one of the three above.
